The Dental Assistant is responsible for providing a variety of patient care, office, and laboratory duties, and often work chairside as Dentists examine and treat patients. Duties include assisting the Dentist and Dental Hygienist chairside with duties to include: patient charting, suctioning, passing instruments, mixing materials such as cements and impression materials. Transports contaminated instruments to soiled room, clean wrap, and sterilize instruments, cleans and disinfects operatory. Prepares patients for dental procedures by taking vitals, draping patient, taking and developing x-rays. Ordering and stocking supplies. Maintains office equipment and maintenance for vacuum system, ultrasonic cleaner, sterilizer, hand pieces and hand piece cleaner. Prepares work area for patient treatment. Communicates with patients regarding consent forms, post-operation hygiene instructions, discussing treatment plans. Assists the administrative staff with patient scheduling, recalls, payment plans, waivers and billing. Solving problems with dental equipment, schedule, and staff.
