Coordinator – Athletic Facilities and Event Operations

Wayne State University is searching for an experienced Coordinator – Athletic Facilities and Event Operations at its Detroit campus location.

Essential functions (job duties):

Job Purpose
In accordance with the mission of Wayne State University and the Department of Athletics, assist in administering all facets of athletics facilities operations and coordination of various event operations. This includes day-to-day set-up and breakdown of facilities for practices, competitions and special events, many in compliance with the guidelines of the National Collegiate Athletic Association and Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
Essential Functions
Assist with the planning, oversight and execution of the following: all National Collegiate Athletic Association athletic practice, game and event logistics; university related classes and special events; and any ancillary special events for external users held on the Athletics Campus.
Coordinate University work orders (Facilities Planning & Management) and event requests (Parking) with multiple University Departments to include: Public Safety, Parking and Facilities, Planning and Management (custodial, grounds, trades, design and construction and building engineers); monitor progress through completion. Also perform regular inspections to determine required maintenance, repairs, renovations and/or designated projects. Assist with the coordination of facility maintenance agreements.
Supervise one full-time attendant staff and applicable game operations and building staff to include: students, work-study, interns and part-time staff. Ensure effective and efficient communication of university and department policy and procedures.
Coordinate facility contracts, expenses, revenue, and documentation. Which includes facility rentals, equipment inventories, and oversees concessions (excluding football and basketball). Responsible for cash handling in compliance with university policy.
Assist with the coordination and communication of a master facility calendar encompassing all venues on the Athletics Campus. Constituents include: coaches, department staff, Intramural and Club Sports, University personnel and external users. Also assist in the management of year-round Wayne State University camps and clinics.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Bachelor's degree
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in business, public administration or related discipline. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted.
Experience
Experienced (minimum 2 years of job-related experience).
Minimum of 2 years job-related experience, preferably with National Collegiate Athletic Association programs.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong organizational and supervisory skills. Ability to handle multiple tasks, delegating when necessary, and completing work within deadlines in a changing environment with multiple priorities.
Ability to communicate effectively with others, including excellent written and oral communications skills.
Proficient computer skills in Microsoft office and Windows based systems, in addition to working knowledge of other programs (Adobe, Scheduling Software).

Working conditions:
