Associate Athletic Director, Facilities Operations and Event Management

Wayne State University is searching for an experienced Associate Athletic Director, Facilities Operations and Event Management at its Detroit campus location.

Essential functions (job duties):

Job Purpose
This position oversees the day-to-day operations of all athletic facilities, event management, budgets for athletic facilities, and capital building projects. The incumbent develops and implements current and long-term plans to ensure the efficient maintenance and operation of athletic venues, capital improvement building projects, budget utilization, and event management. This position reports to the Director of Athletics.
Essential Functions
Oversees day-to-day operation of Athletics facilities and event management. Works in partnership with the WSU Facilities Planning & Management Department on areas such as athletic grounds maintenance, custodial coverage, and facility maintenance/needs for all Athletic Facilities. 
Oversees all staff involved in athletic services and programs, including equipment, gameday operations, and facilities. Provides direct supervision and oversees the performance of personnel as designated by the Athletics Director.
Maintains and reviews the budget for Athletics equipment, facilities, and maintenance. Provides oversight and is responsible for budget for assigned program areas.
Participates in the strategic planning for assigned areas and assists with developing and implementing the departmental strategic plan. Develops current and long-range plans to ensure the efficient maintenance and operation of Athletics facilities.
Establishes methods and organizational structure for facility and event management. Reviews procedures to establish maintenance of equipment and facilities.
Serve as a sport supervisor for programs designated by the Athletics Director.
Serve as a member of the Athletic department’s senior management team. Act as department liaison to ensure all assigned tasks are in compliance with department, university, conference and NCAA rules and regulations.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Bachelor's degree
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in sports administration, marketing, public relations, business
administration or related field.
Master’s degree preferred.
Experience
Specialist (minimum 5 years of job-related experience)
Must have extensive knowledge of the operations and nuances of a collegiate Athletic Division. 
Knowledge of DII NCAA and conference rules & regulations.
Understand the function & nuances of intercollegiate athletic programs. 
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of NCAA and GLIAC Conference rules and regulations as they pertain to job duties. 
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. 
Ability to effectively manage the work of others by providing information, guidance, and motivation. 
Ability to take initiative to plan, organize, coordinate, and perform work in various situations with numerous and diverse demands are involved. 
Ability to think critically and creatively, have a high standard of integrity, and motivated to incorporate best practices into the organizational structure. 
Ability to exercise a high degree of independent judgment in the establishment, interpretation, application, and enforcement of all rules, regulations, and policies.
