Assistant Deputy Director - Maintenance

A Brief Overview
The Assistant Deputy Director assists the Director and Deputy Director with the efficient operation of the Field, Trades, and Maintenance Units as well as providing administrative support for fixed asset coordination, safety management and the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
This position is part of a 24/7/365-day operation. Work hours may vary and include weekends, holidays.
What you will do

  • Assists with overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Maintenance Departments primary operating units: Trades, Field and Facilities maintenance.
  • Assists with development of the annual budget for assigned units. Monitors expenditures of the operating budget.
  • Assists the Procurement Department with finalizing related documents for the procurement of major goods and services in the Maintenance Department. Tracks and monitors the Department’s Solicitation Calendar for compliance and adherence to scheduled submissions of requisitions and purchasing related documents.
  • Ensures that the requirements of contracts for goods and services are communicated to and complied with by Department Managers.
  • Develops training objectives for the CMMS. Partners with Technology Services to ensure appropriate employees are trained to use the CMMS. Monitors system use to ensure compliance with established procedures.
  • Oversees the various maintenance units ensuring that budgets, procurements, service contracts and related preventative and corrective maintenance activities for landside and airfield locations are adhered to and support a safe operating environment and compliance with federal, state and Airport Authority Rules and Regulations.
  • Maintains and updates Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for assigned units.
  • Ensures that staff members comply with applicable collective bargaining agreements and address’ any operational issues as needed. Enforces Airport Authority policies and procedures, work rules, and SOPs.
  • Develops, completes and delegates special projects including but not limited to contract review, cost, budget analysis, staffing projections and safety practices.
  • Assists with the development, implementation and compliance of performance measurement tools for the department.
  • Performs other similar and related duties as required or directed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Public or Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Operations Management or a closely related field preferred.
  • 6 or more years of full time paid increasingly responsible experience that includes managing compliance with policies and/or procedures, coordinating, communicating and resolving issues with multiple Airport Authority Divisions, employees, customers and/or tenants. Equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Familiar with Office Suite Software (Core - Email, Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Presentation).
  • Familiar with Computerized Maintenance Management Software (CMMS).
  • Familiar with Accounting/Financial Software such as Munis.
  • Have a valid Driver's License and a safe, acceptable driving record.

Supervisory ResponsibilitiesManages People: 1-5 direct employees, 50-100 indirect employees.
