Food & Beverage Assistant Manager

Food & Beverage Assistant Managerwill assist the Food and Beverage Manager with coordinating the Washington Pavilion’s food and beverage operations including The WP Café, Parlour concessions, catering, and bar with an emphasis on quality, efficiency, safety, and excellence. This is an non-exempt (hourly) full-time opportunity that will require flexibility and dedication to work days, evenings, and weekends as our Food & Beverage Assistant Manager.

What you will do!

  • Assists with menu creation, inputting details in Toast POS system, and inventory tracking.
  • Works closely with All Pavilion Departments in the planning of special events and ongoing programming.
  • Assists with hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluation of each department’s staff to ensure that all job duties are being completed and policies are being followed.
  • Assists with approving and turning in information for payroll.
  • Works with Museums team to coordinate scheduling in Parlour/Concessions area.
  • Actively participates in all aspects of daily business, as needed (food preparation/cook, set-up, customer service, POS to take orders in Café, supervision of staff and clean-up).
  • Provide the Events Department with final billing for events in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that all necessary product and equipment is on hand and ready for proper execution of all events.
  • Assists chefs with food ordering, menu planning, production, labor and food cost management as needed.
  • Work with VenueOps software inputting menus, billing information, and set-up requests.
  • Work with Food & Beverage Manager/Performance Dept to ensure that hospitality needs for performers are met.
  • Monitors pricing to ensure that costs are being covered and clients are receiving the best value for their money, while maintaining food costs that are in-line with industry standards for our type of operation.
  • Work with operations staff to ensure that post event cleanup is as thorough and smooth as possible.
  • Writes and enforces catering and event contracts, with the assistance of the Events Coordinators.
  • Monitors and utilizes current trends in food, decorating and beverage types.
  • Review invoices to ensure that proper items are being purchased at the agreed upon prices.
  • Responsible for complying with all food and beverage health, liquor and safety regulations; as well as all federal, state and local applicable laws and ensuring that staff are also complying.
  • Maximizes cost effectiveness within Food and Beverage department by ensuring compliance with established budget, labor and revenue benchmarks.

What you will need (qualifications)!

  • Minimum 3 years food and beverage service preferred.
  • Minimum two years of management experience preferred.
  • Ability to plan, manage and coordinate in a fast-paced environment.
  • Tact and proficiency when handling sensitive customer-service issues.
  • Ability to adapt to rapid changes in the industry and work under pressure.
  • Ability to communicate in English effectively and comfortably in a group and one-on-one settings.
  • Must be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously and efficiently.
  • Computer experience using Microsoft Office preferred.
  • Experience in the use of computerized scheduling, point of sale and contact management software preferred.
  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs; ability to stand for long periods of time; ability to walk, stoop, bend and climb stairs throughout the facility. This position requires physical agility. Ability to use hands and have dexterity to serve patrons
