Description

The Housekeeping Manager is responsible for the daily operations of Housekeeping and Laundry. In addition, they assign work to employees daily to ensure hotel guest rooms, public space, and employee areas are clean and well-maintained. The Housekeeping Manager completes inspections and updates room status upon completion of inspection. In addition, they assist the General Manager in ensuring all Brand and Company standards are met and optimum service is provided to our guests.

Essential Job Functions and Performance Indicators

Job Knowledge and Responsibilities

Supervises Housekeeping Operations and Budgets

  • Inspect rooms, public spaces, and corridors on a daily basis for cleanliness and appearance.
  • Supervises daily housekeeping shift operations and ensures compliance with all housekeeping policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Verifies that guest room status is communicated to the Front Desk in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Train and monitor performance of housekeeping staff. Exercise good judgement, as well as provide organization, instruction, guidance, communication, and counseling. Assign staff to their designated work areas and ensure all jobs are completed during the shift. Perform employee performance reviews with the assistance of the General Manager.
  • Ensure that all supplies are adequately stocked. Ensure that both carts and supply closets are kept clean, neat, and properly stocked. Ensure proper use of all cleaning supplies by monitoring usage, training employees on usage, and ensuring all chemicals are labeled properly.
  • Check the information board and daily event sheet; be up-to-date and informed about daily operations.
  • Understands the impact of department’s operations on the overall property financial goals and objectives.
  • Responsible for purchasing departmental chemicals and linens. Performs monthly linen inventory.
  • Verifies all employees have proper supplies, equipment, and uniforms.
  • Communicates areas that need attention to staff and follows up to ensure understanding.
  • Participates in departmental meetings and continually communicates a clear and consistent message regarding departmental goals to produce desired results.
  • Uses all available on-the-job training tools to train new room attendants and provide follow-up training as necessary.
  • Verifies employees understand expectations and parameters.
  • Administers property policies fairly and consistently; disciplinary procedures and documentation are completed according to company policy.
  • Supervises staffing levels to ensure that guest service, operational needs, and financial objectives are met.
  • Participates in an ongoing employee recognition program.
  • Solicits employee feedback, utilizes an “open door” policy, and reviews employee satisfaction results to identify and address employee problems or concerns.

Customer Service

  • Sets a positive example for guest relations.
  • Empowers employees to provide excellent customer service.
  • Emphasizes guest satisfaction during all departmental meetings and focuses on continuous improvement.
  • Responds to and handles guest problems and complaints.
  • Strives to improve service performance.

Job may require other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
