The Warren County ESC Social Communication program provides services for students on the autism spectrum and low incidence disabilities that produce complex learners. Each classroom is staffed with an intervention specialist and up to three support personnel (paraprofessionals and behavior interventionists). The intervention specialist role includes providing core curriculum instruction and individualized specially designed instruction according to students’ IEP. We are looking for highly motivated, energetic, and engaging intervention specialists for grades K-12 that enjoy working in an interdisciplinary team environment. High levels of professional support programming which includes related services along with extensive mentorship and professional development are provided to intervention specialists in the program.

 
General Duties:
  • Under general direction, provides daily instruction to assigned students; prepares daily instructional lesson plans and supervises and disciplines students.
  • Prepares daily lesson plans which incorporate ODE content standards, textbook materials, supplemental instructional materials, audio and visual aids, thinking skills, courses of study,etc.
  • Supervises students following the student discipline code,evaluates students through the utilization of teacher made tests,curriculum/standardized tests and observations.
  • Performs required supplemental duties which could include multi-factored evaluation and Individual Education Plan (IEP) meetings.
  • Communicates with parents and documents all contact in school phone log.
  • Confers with personnel.
  • Provides intervention for those students who have been identified as requiring additional instruction.
  • Requisitions supplies, curriculum/textbooks, and equipment through building principal or program supervisor.
  • Maintains required certificate(s) and/or license(s).
  • Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.
  • Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the county and/or self-selected professional growth activities.
  • Performs all duties in conformity to the adopted Board policies.
  • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students and maintain equipment, materials and facilities (carpet, walls, heating controls, etc)
  •  Maintains accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
  •  Demonstrates knowledge of subject matter and child development.
  •  Teaches to course of study objectives.
  •  Maintains positive control of the classroom.
  •  Maintains positive rapport with students.
  •  Effectively manages class time.
  •  Demonstrates flexibility in adapting to changes in schedules and plans.
  •  Enables students to achieve to their potential
  •  Maintains a positive working relationship with all school personnel.
  •  Maintains an effective working relationship with parents.
  •  Communicates clearly both orally and in writing with all segments of the school community.
  •  Models appropriate dress, language and conduct as a professional educator.
  •  Effectively completes other job performance criteria as assigned.
  •  Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.
  •  Performs all duties in conformity to the adopted Board Policy.
  •  Displays professional appearance.
  •  Performs in a professional manner.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
  • In case of absence, notify the principal/director or his/her designee as early as possible.
  • Fill out appropriate forms when necessary: sick, personal, professional leave statements, reimbursement forms, etc. 
  • Grade books and/or IEP/progress folders are to be turned in to the principal/director’s office at the end of the year. (Grade books should report at least weekly grades and be readily available to the principal/supervisor.)
  • No class is to be left unattended.
  • Attend scheduled meetings called by the administration.
  • All teachers are responsible for their personal books, materials and equipment.
  • Serves as a role model for educators and students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible human beings.
  • Helps instill in students and staff the belief in and practiced of ethical principles and democratic values.
  • Shall perform such other duties as the principal/director may assign/determine.
  • The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or nonprescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the County/District.
  • Observes Risk Reduction Safety Rules and Regulations of the Warren County ESC and School Districts, State, Federal, OSHA laws and will be evaluated to the extent of compliance and implementation as an employee of such rules and regulations for safety in the workplace while visiting such sites in line of work duties.
