Job Summary

Manage shop floor production, including, but not limited to maximum utilization of available resources to meet production deadlines, and oversight of quality. Develop, document, and implement policies and procedures to maximize productivity, quality, and safety.

Requirements

  • Evaluate production needs, and lead in the implementation of solutions, including the evaluation of machine resources to ensure continued production and minimal downtime
  • Develop workflow policies and procedures that improve efficiency without compromising quality or safety
  • Manage the workflow and coordination of the manufacturing environment, including materials and equipment to meet production, quality, and cost goals
  • Coordinate production activities with procurement, maintenance and quality to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines and equipment
  • Plans and coordinates department production schedules, production rates and capacity plans, processing methods and times
  • Communicate regularly with Plant Manager regarding problems or issues impacting production
  • Establish a balance between increased productivity and reduced costs of manufacturing operations
  • Plans budgeting and approves expenditures for the required resources for production including equipment, materials and workforce
  • Promote and maintain a safety conscious manufacturing environment
  • Hire, train, coach, support, evaluate, and discipline assigned personnel 
  • Abide by, support, and enforce company policies
  • Ensure that the department’s business operations are in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies
  • Administer and monitor Performance Improvement Plans and Corrective Action
  • Ensure that all work is carried out safely and in accordance with all applicable regulatory, industry and other pertinent standards
  • Prepare reports for, and attend, company management meetings
  • Raise cross-departmental non-compliance issues with the appropriate level of management
  • Ensure department business operations are in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies
  • Maintain confidentiality and protect proprietary information 
  • In order to achieve business objectives, work weeks in excess of 40 hours may be required 
  • Other duties as assigned 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical or related field, plus one (1) year experience, OR
  • Associates degree in an Industrial Technology-related field, plus a minimum of three (3) years of experience in manufacturing OR 
  • Minimum of five (5) years of manufacturing experience with significant experience in management and supervision
  • Ability to prepare and interpret various metrics and reports
  • Ability to identify problems and take appropriate corrective measures
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to communicate effectively with all levels within the plant
  • ERP systems experience 
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, motivate and coach others
  • Must work independently, without supervision, exercising discretion and judgment

Working Environment 

While performing the duties of this job, work is performed primarily in an adequately lit, well ventilated, climate controlled general office environment. Close computer work is regularly required. The work usually involves minimal physical exertion. The noise level in the general office environment is usually moderate.

This job may require occasional or more frequent interaction with employees on the manufacturing shop floor. While on the shop floor, the employee may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risks of moving equipment and parts, and other risks associated with a manufacturing environment. Because of this environment and associated risks, coordination with shop floor managers/employees may be necessary before entering the shop floor, and use of job appropriate personal protective equipment and clothing is required on the shop floor. The noise level on the shop floor is often loud.
