Position Description:

We are looking for a Construction Inspector to join our Construction Team in our New York office. Candidates must have at least five years of experience in inspection/construction management projects and also experience working on heavy civil projects such as pedestrian ramps and streets is preferred. Experience with greater New York City clients (NY Department of Design and Construction (DDC) is preferred. Thirty hours of OSHA training and Trench Safety training is a plus and willing to relocate or travel for projects is required. Individuals must have strong communication skills, be self-motivated and able to work well with others.

Typical Responsibilities Include:

  • Act as the on-site liaison with client and community
  • Maintain excellent client relations
  • Conduct field inspections
  • Coordinate/communicate with contractors regarding construction project activity
  • Coordinate with Engineer of Record as needed
  • Record inspection daily reports
  • Monitor construction operations 
  • Organize and maintain construction documentation with cloud-based document control interface
  • Develop a detailed understanding of plans and specifications
  • Assist Project Manager with the interpretation of contract requirements
  • Review shop drawings, where appropriate
  • Help address Field Changes, as appropriate
  • Lead or assist with Requests for Information responses
  • Assist Project Manager with the Engineer’s response to any contract claims
  • Identify and help mitigate potential project risks during construction
  • Review and understand construction CPM schedules
  • Attend or facilitate project progress, coordination or pre-installation meetings
  • Mentor less experienced project colleagues
  • Attend seminars and/or training courses
  • Maintain a safe working environment
Education:
  • High School Diploma is required
Skills/Experience:
  • 5 years of inspection/construction management project experience is required
  • Willing to relocate or travel for project work is required
  • Valid Driver’s License is required
  • Experience working on heavy civil projects such as pedestrian ramps and streets is preferred
  • Experience with greater New York City clients (NY Department of Design and Construction (DDC)) is preferred
  • 30 Hours of OSHA training is preferred
  • Trench and Safety Training is preferred
