Technical Responsibilities
- Handle daily field inspection reports and follow procedures for any noted inconsistencies.
- Evaluate plans, specifications, and submittals for inspection conditions.
- Review all work sites and suggest modifications as per requirements for improvement of procedures.
- Interact and converse with project managers, contractors, and project staff as needed.
- Attending pre-construction and project progress meeting, as necessary.
- Maintaining accurate records of documentation.
- Monitor and regularly check on the contractor’s work progress.
- Review project information with clients and project staff to describe project details for interpretation of plans and specifications.
- Comprehend required inspection codes and requirements to carry out testing.
- Attending close-out meetings, as necessary.
- Responsive to Client and other KSE Manager/ needs, and all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Educational Requirements and Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent with 5 years of experience in construction inspection or management of infrastructure construction projects.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, including solid interpersonal skills.
- A valid driver’s license and personal vehicle to travel to and from project sites for site inspections.
- Prior experience with NYSDOT, NYSTA, NYCDDC, NYCDOT, and/or MTA TBTA.
Professional Licenses/Registrations
- Valid NICET II Certification in transportation/highway construction required.
- Current Water Main Inspection Certificate confirming completion of NYCDDC Water Main Training for only water main construction inspection projects is preferred.
- Other construction certifications such as ACI, SAT, TCP, NACE, AWS, and OSHA 10 hours are preferred.
Professional Development:
- Willing to pursue professional development, training, and licensing.
