Job Description:
W International is seeking a seasoned Continuous Improvement Leader. In this role, the Continuous Improvement Leader performs all aspects of Continuous Improvement (CI) activities, always driven by business needs and company strategies / objectives. The Leader's focus is on Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost while demonstrating capability to perform CI activities at a high level as a seasoned practitioner. They coach and mentor leaders, project teams, and associates to engrain a solid problem-solving through process on a daily basis. The leader is charged to facilitate daily / weekly coaching sessions with problem-solving teams and develop future coaches and practitioners in assigned areas.
A highly engaged and active participant, the CI leader offers support for CI applications on the floor. The CI leader establishes plans per assigned areas, data collection systems, program / project tracking, sustainment and follow-up initiatives. They manage project identification, prioritization, and execution by applying the models, methods, and standards available, including Visual Management Systems, Metric boards and Tools aligned with "Go and See" walks with plant, department, and program leaders. Initial priority in this role as a Continuous Improvement Leader will be Basic Problem Solving and A3 Methodology, defect and rework reduction, 6S, standardized work, pull systems, kaizen, and utilize other Lean Six Sigma advanced tools where deemed necessary.
Continuous Improvement Leader Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Places high emphasis on Safety while driving team behaviors such as integrity, inspiring the team, promoting collaboration, being courageous, creative, and adaptable, while developing others to improve overall business processes and performance.
  • Maintains and develops relationships with all Operations, Operations Managers, and associates to include Operators, Quality, Engineering, Programs, and Supply Chain to support various initiatives, projects or any other activity by applying the available tools and knowledge.
  • Identifies and prioritizes projects, applying the correct tools (5 Why, A3, 6S, Standardized Work, JDI, 6 Sigma, etc). Always driven by the organizational strategies and business needs.
  • Applies project management tools to manage all projects under their scope (Plant / Department or Area) while ensuring timeline and target accomplishment (which includes savings or additional impact calculation and approvals, projects documentation and 12 months tracking for sustainability). Also provides trainings to project leaders and project team members.
  • Trains and facilitates cross-functional teams on Visual Management Systems, Metric boards and Tools aligned with "Go See" walks with plant, department, and program leaders.
  • Leads or coaches high impact projects due to its level of complexity and impact to the organization. Recommends and proposes potential replication projects to plant / program / department owners.
  • Continuously focuses on capabilities development and certifications related to CI knowledge and application as supporting the development of others on his plant or department. Special focus on peers in Quality, Operations, Manufacturing, and Engineering. Acts as an agent with a problem-solving mindset.
Requirements And Skills:
  • Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in an engineering or science or related discipline with six (6) years of related experience, or the overall equivalent.
  • Related experience to include lean and continuous improvement principles, systems, methodologies, and tools.
  • Lean or Six Sigma Certification (GB/BB).
  • Experience with Quality, Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Industrial engineering departments and activities.
  • Computer skills to include Microsoft Office Suite, Minitab, Visio, or similar applications.
  • Requires analytical, problem-solving skills with systematic thinking ability.
  • Highly effective communicator, written and verbal.
  • Experience presenting material and providing mentoring and coaching to support the training.
  • Pro-active with an ability to influence, lead, guide, and drive change.
