Description

Pay: $55,000 - $65,000

Work Location: Hybrid (Up to 2 remote days/week)

Position Summary: In this multifaceted role, Vuzix is seeking a Human Resources professional to oversee the various aspects of the employment process, manage payroll and benefits, and maintain compliance. Our organization employs approximately 85 individuals, and the successful candidate will be responsible for managing every aspect of their employment needs. Responsibilities include overseeing the hiring process and ensuring all employees, from executives on down, are in compliance with federal, state, and in-house regulatory requirements and procedures. The ideal candidate should possess strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to maintain confidentiality while working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Employee Lifecycle Management:

  • Collaborate with hiring managers to fulfill staffing needs.
  • Manage the recruitment and onboarding process to ensure a seamless and positive experience for new employees.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records.
  • Administer employee recognition and retention programs.
  • Conduct training sessions on HR policies, procedures, and compliance.

Payroll Administration (Paylocity):

  • Oversee payroll operations, ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll for employees.
  • Oversee payroll-related activities such as benefits administration, time and attendance tracking, and leave management.
  • Maintain payroll records and generate relevant reports for analysis and auditing purposes.
  • Work with our third-party benefits administrator to manage benefit programs, annual open enrollment, and address employee inquiries.

Compliance and Reporting:

  • Ensure compliance with employment laws, regulations, and internal policies.
  • Collaborate with Finance, Accounting, and Legal teams to ensure compliance with relevant labor laws, tax regulations, and company policies.
  • Collaborate with in-house counsel on compliance issues and investigations.
  • Prepare and submit required reports to regulatory bodies, as well as internal reports for senior management.

Employee Relations:

  • Serve as a trusted advisor and point of contact for employees, addressing their concerns, resolving conflicts, and promoting a positive work culture.
  • Develop and implement employee engagement initiatives to foster a supportive and inclusive work environment.
  • Handle disciplinary actions, grievances, and investigations in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.

Technology and Systems Management:

  • Maintain the Human Capital Management (HCM) system and any related ancillary systems. (Paylocity)
  • Confidentiality and Discretion:
  • Handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Ensure the confidentiality of employee data and legal matters.

Minimum Qualifications:  

  • Qualified candidates will either have a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field or 3-5 years prior experience in an HR role.
  • Solid understanding of employment laws, regulations, and HR best practices.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll administration, including relevant software systems.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Discretion and the ability to handle confidential information with care.
  • Detail-oriented and proactive problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team. 
  • Professional certification in Human Resources (e.g., PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP) is a plus.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None.

Travel: Negligible.

Physical Demands: Frequently required to sit, speak, hear, see, and perform repetitive motion (data entry). Occasionally required to lift or carry (10 lb. minimum). Reasonable accommodation will be made if possible.
