Knowledge of construction materials, methods, procedures and relevant specifications Inspect material prior to installation and verify appropriate certifications and / or lab reports have been submitted.
Perform material sampling and required testing. Direct the contractor to rectify all areas of non-compliance regarding safety, maintenance of traffic and maintenance of site.
Strong written and oral communication skills Educational Requirements and Experience / Professional Licenses / Registrations Preference given for experience on projects for DOT agencies Knowledge and understanding of proper construction material sampling and testing techniques, relevant certifications are a plus Bachelor's degree (B.
S., or B.A.) in Engineering or Construction Management or High School diploma or equivalent with 5 years of experience in construction inspection.
Experience, in one or more of the following areas, with horizontal transportation projects of roadway and drainage, new vertical building construction inspection including all aspects required to provide functional structure with all fits and finishes, or Utility projects including but not limited to new large waterline installation.
A valid driver’s license with no restrictions preventing required travel to and from project sites for site inspections.
Ability, intermittently, to stay overnight away from home as remote project locations and events may require. OSHA 10-hour certification ICC, ACI, or AASHTO VRX, Inc .
