Position Summary

VRX is seeking a Utility Coordinator which will act as the liaison between infrastructure designers, utility agencies and project owners on behalf of clients for Utility Engineering, Utility Coordination and Utility Surveying services.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform utility relocation conflict analysis on infrastructure projects.

• Identify and resolve utility conflicts in the most feasible and time sensitive manner.

• Provide cost estimating support and value engineering analysis of complex roadway and utility conflicts.

• Prepare deliverable packets including conceptual relocation plans and spec packages.

• Coordination and oversight of design and SUE resources.

• Review & comment on Utility Owner design submittals.

• Facilitate constructability reviews to ensure designs are compatible with construction sequence and methods.

• Provide input on design and pre-construction schedule.

• Create & manage file structures for design working files, deliverables, and reference documents.

• Reviews contracts, specifications, plans, and utility billing documents associated with right of way coordination.

• Understand and confirm all work is performed according to Client standards.

• Interface with client and Utility Owner representatives.

• Review contractor operations and coordinate with the contractor(s) for utility construction activities ensure complete, accurate and timely contract records.

• Maintains accurate and complete project records and ensure compliance with policies and procedures, calculates and documents field quantities for payment purposes, documents as-built condition of constructed facilities and supports in maintaining cost and schedule goals and commitments.

• Collaborate with design teams consisting of multidiscipline design engineers, technicians, and planners.

• Work under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team members and assist with tasks including preparing engineering related calculations, drawings, and visual aids.

• Input utility information into MicroStation to create utility layouts and plan sheets for design of utility relocation or ability to supervise others.

QUALIFICATIONS

• 6 Years in Utilities Design and/or Utility Coordination; Infrastructure Engineering experience preferred.

• Bachelors degree in Engineering or related degree field.

• Experienced use of Microstation, Projectwise, OpenRoads, AutoCAD.

• Understanding of the Utility Accommodation Policy.

• Experienced with ASCE standard governance of Subsurface Utility Engineering.

• Experiences with variety of design standards for water, sewer, gas, petroleum, electric, communications.

• Experience with different construction techniques and constructability of Utilities

• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with individuals at all levels of the organization

• Strong inter-personal skills and an ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment.

• Ability to organize and handle multiple project assignments.

• Ability to travel to assignments based on business needs.

• Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environments.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
