Volunteers of America Northern New England is Hiring a Maintenance Specialist (Full Time) - Full Benefits Near Augusta, ME

Volunteers of America Northern New England is currently seeking a Full-Time Maintenance Specialist, primarily for our Margaret Chase Smith housing.

This position is a full-time 40 hours/week with pay starting from $19/hour. Excellent benefits! Great work environment!

The Maintenance Specialist performs wide variety of general maintenance tasks and provides 24-hour emergency, on-call maintenance service for Volunteers of America Northern New England's program facilities. The responsibilities include but are not limited to property appearance and safety maintenance, building and equipment repairs, preventive maintenance procedures, trash removal, janitorial, and upkeep of the grounds and lawn of the assigned properties.

Qualifications:

  • A High School diploma or GED is required;
  • A minimum of one year of responsible experience in building maintenance;
  • Basic knowledge of power tools, plumbing, sheetrock repairs, painting, snow removal, lawn care, electrical repair, and cleaning is required;
  • Must be able to provide 24-hour emergency, on-call service;
  • Physical ability to perform the work required; must be capable of using and climbing extension ladder to access roof, window, and siding to make repairs as needed and must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs.;
  • Ability to work quickly and efficiently with minimum supervision;
  • Ability to communicate effectively with tenants and staff;
  • A valid state of Maine driver’s license, a good driving record and a reliable vehicle is required.
