Introduction

Overview

• Recruit, lead, manage, train, supervise, recognize, and develop counseling staff to achieve established objectives; provide quality services in a work environment reflecting teamwork and mutual respect.
• Conduct or supervise annual performance reviews of all counseling staff, including assessment of past year accomplishments corresponding to objectives set in previous reviews, coming year objectives corresponding to current program goals, and professional development objectives.

Responsibilities

• Meet affirmative action goals established by the organization while maintaining a work environment which respects and supports cultural competence and proficiency.
• Plan and build an effective team working together to achieve a common purpose by developing and implementing a group structure that creates an atmosphere for positive change.
• Ensure that treatment plans and other clinical directives are implemented and followed.
• As directed by program, using individual and family assessment and treatment information, interviews and staff observations, establish clinical objectives and determine and provide the appropriate clinical services for the resident and family.
• Participate in all formal treatment reviews.
• Participate and be involved in admission, reviews, and discharge process for each resident.
• Responsible for making sure that recreational and education programming is adequately planned and executed by unit staff.
• Interpret and support the program’s treatment philosophy to the Residential Counselors so that this is practiced on the unit.
• Work as many hours as needed to complete the job.
• Investigate and resolve matters of significance on behalf of management.
• Hiring, firing, advancement, promotion or any other decision in employee status, or his/her recommendations regarding such are given particular weight

Requirements

Education/Experience:

• BA/BS in Human Services or equivalent experience.
• 2-4 years of experience working with children/adolescents with experienced severe emotional and mental health concerns in a hospital/ residential setting.

Other Skills/Requirements:

• A valid driver's license and a good driving record

Diagnoses include depression, anxiety, posttraumatic stress and emerging personality disorders which often present as self-injurious behavior and frequent hospitalizations for suicidal ideation and attempts.
