Overview

Grant/Contract Management

  • Determine billing amounts for grants and contracts. Manage the contracts to maximize eligible revenues. Work with program staff to ensure that contracts are understood, revenue recognition is proper, and VOA is paid correctly and according to contract terms.
  • Create and deliver complete and accurate invoices based on contracted and delivered services. Record invoices in GP and various contract billing sites 
  • Prepare monthly general ledger entries, including the revenue accrual revenue for contract billing 
  • Analyze and communicate with relevant staff regarding outstanding accounts receivable and assist with collection of outstanding invoices. 
  • Manage external audits as needed 
  • Serve as liaison between funding agencies and internal staff 
  • Provide pre and post award grant support, and support grant and finance activities to ensure compliance with contracts, funder regulations and requirements and VOA policy 

Responsibilities

Budget

  • Support the annual budget by preparing the required budget templates.
  • Consolidate budget submissions and review data for reasonableness and accuracy
  • Assist program staff with preparation of operating budgets, including gathering data to enable the preparation.
  • Assist program and mission advancement staff to understand and identify revenue assumptions.
  • Load operating budgets in the accounting system
  • Analyze budget variances and identify opportunities to resolve revenue gaps or reduce costs.
  • Assist management with the preparation of mid-year projections.

Other

  • Work with management and other departments to improve processes, increase accuracy, create efficiencies, resolve related issues, and achieve the overall goals of VOA.

Requirements

Qualification/Requirements: Education/Experience:

  • BA/BS degree in finance or accounting
  • 4 years of relevant experience
  • Not-for-Profit experience with grant management preferred 
  • Intermediate Excel proficiency
  • MS Dynamics GP experience or demonstrated ability to learn new accounting systems quickly

Language/Communication Skills:

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in
  • Ability to work with a diverse population of individuals by using tact, diplomacy and

Reasoning Skills:

  • Ability to comprehend budgeting, financial documents, contracts, and legal documents.
