JOB OVERVIEW:
We are looking for an organized and experienced medical biller to join our practice. The medical biller will be responsible for ensuring claims are sent and paid within a timely fashion. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in billing software, medical insurance regulations, and an expert at responding to patient and insurance inquiries. The medical biller/collector will also be responsible for maintaining patient confidentiality, handling personal information, and accurately inputting patient data into billing software.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

• Work claims and appeal denials to ensure maximum reimbursement for services provided.

• Ensure that all carrier accounts receivable ratios are maintained.

• Provide follow-up on insurance accounts.

• Alert management to carrier related problems.

• Screen and submit insurance claims in a timely manner.

• Secure referrals and authorizations as required.

• Answer all billing related questions from patients and carriers.

• Post patient and insurance carrier payments.

• Handle the payment inquiry process through to completion.

• Process secondary insurance claims.

• Prepare and reconcile operator daily close.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Two (2) years’ previous experience as a medical biller or in a related healthcare administrative position.

• Previous experience with Athena, a plus.

• Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Proficient computer skills, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel); working knowledge of billing software a plus.

• Strong customer service skills and comfortable answering both patient and insurance company questions.

• Able to analyze problems and strategize for better solutions.

• Positive and professional attitude.
