POSITION SUMMARY

The Security Guard is responsible for controlling facility access and guarding the property and assisting program staff with emergency situations; such as fights, runaways, accidents, etc.. They will coordinate security issues with law enforcement agencies. The Bilingual Security Guard will keep record of all who enter and leave the premises, transportation logs, inventory of two way radios, mobile work-station units and company vehicles. They will control the main gate access by providing remote surveillance and automated access control. The Bilingual Security Guard will monitor the surveillance system and provide support by informing department leads of any areas of concern.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Perform walkthroughs of designated areas on foot checking for hazardous materials while reporting to the direct supervisor of any immediate concerns.

Complete daily checklists/security reports on duties assigned and outcomes.

Perform perimeter checks inside and outside of the facility to ensure safety of staff, visitors and youth.

Be able to cover YCW ratios when needed for urgent situations as far as escorts, postings or supervision only.

Ensure quality of supervision of youth at all times when conducting perimeter walkthroughs when immediate supervisor is not available.

Be able to conduct pat downs and searches.

Watch for irregular or unusual conditions that may create security concerns or safety hazards.

Be tentative of sound alarms ensuring proper reporting which include but not limited; calling the police, fire department, ADT alarm agency and lastly reporting to Program Director and or immediate supervisor.

Be tentative in case of fire or presence of unauthorized persons and conduct proper reporting as outlined above.

Warn violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking or carrying forbidden articles.

Permit authorized persons to enter property and monitor entrances and exits.

Restrict unauthorized persons to enter property while reporting possible intruders.

Observe departing personnel to protect against theft of company property and ensure that authorized removal of property is conducted within appropriate client requirements

Investigate and prepare reports on accidents, incidents, and suspicious activities within the facility inside and out.

Provide assistance to contractors, 3rd party agencies, employees and visitors in a courteous and professional manner.

Monitor security surveillance cameras for quality control, supervision and preventive maintenance.

Perform vehicle inspections which include but not limited to; observing any unusual dents, broken glass, broken mirrors, ensuring headlights and taillights are functioning properly, brake light, turn signals, tires pressure/observing any flats as well as ensuring that vehicle dashboards are clear of any warning signals needing immediate attention.

Archive vehicle logs and documentation in corresponding locations.

Ensure vehicles are clean inside and out, ensure the vehicle has a full tank of gasoline and ensure gas receipts are being stored inside the corresponding vehicle folder.

Attend all organizational required training and attend all departmental and program meetings to ensure that up-to-date information is received and/or information of policy changes or practice are adhered to.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or equivalent degree and a minimum of 1 year employment experience in the child welfare field working with children and/or adolescents in a social service setting.

Must be 21 years of age or older.

Bilingual in English and Spanish Preferred but not required.

Cleared tuberculosis test results.

Cleared background checks from appropriate entities.

Obtain and maintain First Aid Certification (CPR) and Level 1 fingerprint clearance card.

Must have a valid driver's license and be eligible to drive to facilitate program services as required.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or GED.

1 year security guard experience

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

May lift and carry up to 15 pounds frequently, up to 20 pounds occasionally, up to 50 pounds infrequently.

Performs tasks that may involve standing or walking 75% of the day; sitting 25%of the day.

May bend, stoop, reach and grasp as necessary.

May be exposed to prevalent weather conditions.

The pay range for this role is:

21 - 21 USD per hour (883 Gwen Mikeal Village)
