The Role
- Evaluation & Treatment: Conduct comprehensive speech, language, and swallowing evaluations for residents with various communication and swallowing disorders.
- Treatment Planning & Implementation: Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to address specific patient needs.
- Collaboration: Work closely with interdisciplinary teams, including nurses, physicians, therapists, and social workers, to ensure a holistic approach to patient care.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient progress.
- Education: Educate residents, families, and staff on communication strategies and swallowing safety measures.
- Travel: Travel required between long-term care facilities within the region (details provided during interview).
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
- Current Virginia state licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a long-term care setting (preferred).
- Strong clinical skills in speech, language, and swallowing evaluation and treatment.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
- Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong documentation skills.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation (required).
- Day Shift: 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM (flexible scheduling may be available)
