Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8am-5pm. Hybrid: Typically, remote Monday, Wednesday, Friday and in-office on Tuesday, Thursday, and as needed for projects/events.

Job Summary: The Development Associate II (DAII) is an integral member of the Virginia Garcia Memorial Foundation team and will work hand-in-hand with the Development Officer (DO) to identify, cultivate and request support from new and renewing individual donors. The DAII serves as the main support person to the Foundation’s Executive Director in managing communications with the Board of Directors, planning and documenting Foundation Board meetings. The DAII manages a portfolio of individual donors giving up to $500 and provides backup support for all donor database maintenance. With minimal support and direction, the individual in this role will work with the Individual and Corporate Development Team (ICDT) to advance fundraising goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage the research and development of new individual donors.
Manage, steward, and monitor the progress of a mixed portfolio of individual donors giving at all levels. This includes making asks, building relationships, and conducting regular outreach to new and existing donors.
Oversee the delivery of corporate sponsor benefits.
Support Individual & Corporate Development Team in event planning and implementation.
Support maintenance of and co-manage the donor database, including the creation of giving reports.
Partner with donor database co-manager to execute all donor receipts and thank you letters creation and distribution.
Support implementation of annual monthly donor program.
Lead recruitment and training of all Foundation event volunteers.
Support content development for donor communications including appeals, electronic newsletters, and year-end campaigns.
Partner with Executive Director to manage communications and support to Board of Directors including calendaring, meeting preparation and execution, taking minutes, and coordinating with Board Secretary.
Maintain confidentiality with sensitive conversations, discussion, and information discussed at Board of Directors, Executive Committee, and Finance Committee meetings.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Handle protected health information in a manner consistent with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).
HIPAA Requirements:
The Development Associate II may have access to patients for the purposes of interviewing to gather patient stories. Applying the minimum necessary standard of HIPAA, if interviewing patients, the individual in this role shall not disclose individual identifiable information without the proper consent form completed by the individual interviewed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Proficient with Microsoft office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Bilingual proficiency (Spanish/English) preferred.
Proven successful experience working as a member of a team.
Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
A positive and professional work ethic.
Ability to set priorities, take initiative, and manage diverse responsibilities.
Ability to work some evenings and weekends.
Must have valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, safe driving record and insurance coverage for some travel within Oregon and Washington.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field required.
Experience making fundraising asks in person, on the phone, and through written communication.
Experience working with and managing donor communications and donor databases.
Experience working with and supporting Boards desired.
Public speaking and event experience desired.
Experience using Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.
