Job Purpose Manage overall optical operations thru the Operations Manager. Manage all business aspects thru Business manager. Recruit and manage overall operations of the optometrist department.Determine and implement policies and procedures.Prepare and implement comprehensive business plans to facilitate achievement of goals and objectives.Develop and implement plans and objectives for the department in an effective and innovative fashion.Oversee and coordinate daily operations.Maintain compliance with external regulations and internal policies.Assess and report progress on meeting department objectives.Manage department staffing needs (e.g. interviewing, hiring, new hire and ongoing training, annual evaluations, etc.)Participate in budget development and monitoring of expensesOversee events and conferences as needed.Generate necessary reports for the executive team. Duties and Responsibilities FINANCIAL MANAGEMENTMaintains a favorable profit and loss position for all optical operations, responsible for profit and loss.Evaluates purchase/expense of entire department Participates in the preparation of annual operating budgets Assist in preparation of capital budget requests when necessaryMonitors wage and salary expenditures Ensures that financial reports are accurate and complete HUMAN RESOURCESEnsures ongoing communication with and support/recognition of associates (including retention functions)Coordinates interviews as requiredCoordinates employee recruitment/replacement processEnsures that associate performance evaluations are delivered in a fair and timely mannerInitiates/performs disciplinary action as requiredPrepares work schedules as required to meet business/coverage needs OPTICAL / Optometrist Ensures the highest standards of service excellence are in place.Oversees all aspects of contact lenses to include: specialty contact lens fitter and assistant. Overall day to day production and managing of optometrist schedules.
