Job Duties

The Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Division of Consumer Protection is seeking an individual to serve as a Regulatory Compliance Analyst in the Office of Charitable and Regulatory Programs (OCRP). This position seeks compliance by regulated entities, which includes health clubs, waste kitchen grease transporters, charitable gaming, pre-paid legal service plan sellers, credit services businesses, extended service contract providers, home service contract providers, membership campgrounds, and travel clubs that are subject to the provision’s applicable laws and regulations. The successful candidate will apply departmental policies and procedures to process, analyze, and conduct reviews of registrations and supporting documentation, approve registrations, notify non-compliant entities of their deficiencies, and advise of the appropriate corrective action. Additionally, the Regulatory Compliance Analyst will originate analytical fact-finding and apply departmental policies and procedures to resolve complaints; maintain accurate and complete notes concerning regulatory activities and generate comprehensive and concise reports to management; review surety bonds and letters of credit for compliance with applicable laws, both in form and amount; interpret and apply state and federal laws; conduct thorough and timely examinations of suspected violations of law; compile detailed information and evidence resulting from the review of registrations and supporting documentation; prepare reports for any follow-up action by appropriate legal authorities or case closure, and promote public awareness regarding consumer rights and registration requirements. Once onboarded, this position may be eligible for telework opportunities; availability, hours, and duration of telework shall be approved as outlined in the Commonwealth’s telework policy. Minimum Qualifications

Significant experience applying applicable laws and regulations within a regulatory environment or program. Knowledge of the principles and practices of the regulatory and compliance processes and report preparation to include researching, collecting, and analyzing information and/or documents. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to prepare reports to management and case reports for follow-ups conducted by appropriate legal authorities and proven ability to work independently, research, reason and apply knowledge along with managing all aspects of an assigned caseload. Ability to interact effectively and cooperatively with supervisors, co-workers, and the general public to provide outreach and education related to assigned programs; to organize, plan, and complete projects, assignments, and administrative duties; and to identify and convey consumer rights and registration requirements and other related information to regulated entities, the public, industry associations, legal professionals, and other local, state and federal agencies in a clear and concise manner. Proficiency in using the internet and MS Office Suite to include databases. H.S. Diploma/GED required.

A combination of related education, training and experience indicating possession of the preceding knowledge, skills, and abilities to include knowledge of contract or consumer protection laws.
