Position Summary:

The Pauley Heart Center is seeking to hire a Research Cardiac Sonographerto support the research studies and investigators served by the Imaging CoreLab. Main duties include:
-- Train other cardiac sonographers at external, partnering sites (approximately 50 institutions) on research imaging protocols
-- Assist in providing image quality control and analysis for Echocardiogram images from external, partnering sites
-- Participate in bi-monthly meetings with external sites (working in site groups of 7) to review protocol irregularities. These meetings will serve as opportunities for sonographers to ask questions of other site sonographers as well as the Core Lab lead Sonographer
-- Receive and log in study encounter forms related to image acquisition and storage; will verify continuous registration of encounter forms
-- Keep track of sites’ schedules, contacting sites when scans are delinquent or missing
-- Ensure imaging protocols and any amendments are received by all sites
-- Communicate any software or analysis issues experienced by sonographers at partnering sites with Imaging Core Lab Directors and Sr. Data Analyst
-- Assist in providing quality control monitoring of results by investigating and reassessing outliers, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring accuracy of results
Required Qualifications:

-- Certification from an accredited cardiac sonograph training program
-- At least 5 years experience in cardiac sonography
-- Experience training junior sonographers in imaging protocols
-- Competence with: echocardiography systems, electronic medical records systems, and Microsoft Office Suite software
-- Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU
Preferred Qualifications:

-- More than 8 years experience in cardiac sonography a plus
