Overview
ViaPath Technologies is seeking an experienced Senior QA Engineer. The ideal candidate will understand testing methodologies and execute testing in the areas of feature, regression, non-functional, API, and performance for browser and mobile device-based applications that include two-way video communications, transcoding, storage, and playback.
The candidate should possess general and practical knowledge to successfully setup, configure, and troubleshoot test environments consisting of embedded Android, Linux, Mac, and Windows based systems that are connected over both wireless and wired networks and traverse various network configurations over TCP and UDP.
The primary function of this role will be to perform QA tests of video visitations on both browser based and Android devices at the QA lab located in Dallas, Texas office.
Hybrid opportunity (office/home). ViaPath office in Dallas, TX.
Responsibilities
- Offers technical leadership to the team in a collaborative environment.
- Leads new designs and solutions while quickly learning new technologies and patterns.
- Creates strategic test plans that ensure performance and stability of tablet products.
- Develop ATE and system level tests to validate tablet device performance.
- Verify company’s custom Android OS or ROM releases support backward compatibility.
- Perform ROM OTA tests as part of ROM release activities.
- Support and maintain Dallas QA lab.
- Work with device vendors to track and resolve issues found during testing.
- Collaborate with Network architects to create test plans, proof of concept trials.
- Mentors and directs more junior engineers in best practices and increased levels of responsibility.
- Identifies, analyzes, and documents defects, questionable functions, errors, and inconsistencies in software program functions, outputs, screens, and content in company bug tracking software.
- Manages the continuous development of the QA Team’s standard practices and procedures.
- Proactively responds to inquiries from users and technical support regarding functions and operations of software programs.
- Meets or exceeds individual objectives, delivery deadlines, and product quality expectations.
- Utilizes tools to test products and services that implement APIs over JSON.
- Using TestRail, creates test plans and test cases from requirement documentation.
- Track defects and issues using Jira; keep product and test documentation updated in Confluence.
- Leverages SQL to effectively verify the results of testing in a data or document store.
- Uses effective communication flow among internal team members.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering or related field; 4 years of demonstrated experience in lieu of education AND:
- A minimum of 5 years of Software Engineering experience
- QA experience to include test planning, execution and reporting highly desired.
- Experience testing mobile devices and ROMs.
- Experience working with flashing and recovering Android devices and ROMs.
- Experience working with Android, Linux and Windows OS.
- Experience working with servers, routers, switches, wireless and other network related equipment.
- Familiar with basic, industry measurement devices and systems related to product testing.
- Familiar with basic, industry measurement devices and systems related to product testing.
- Expertise in the monitoring of performance KPIs for products, parts, process and servicing.
- Collaboration tools like Jira and Confluence.
- Understands and effectively practices development and quality assurance testing methodologies including functional and regression, implementing accuracy and thoroughness in all work products.
- Demonstrated experience working in a Scrum/Agile environment.
- Ability to work successfully in a team environment as well as working independently and deliver project deliverables on time.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines which may support off-hours testing, deployment, and maintenance as needed.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and solve complex problems and identify best practices.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to think creatively and effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, support teams, clients, customers, and the public.
- Troubleshooting methodology and experience preferred.
- Preferred experience with testing mobile devices, wireless or RF Networks, Cellular communications technology, RF test equipment, network throughput, etc.
- Preferred experience with test management tools, technologies such as Appium, TestRail, or equivalent frameworks/tools, and test script development practices.
- Preferred Experience on CI / CD integration.
- Preferred technical experience with Android mobile applications, libraries and tools; Ruby on Rails, Java, RESTful APIs and SQL; JSON, API or Web Services testing tools like Postman, SoapUI, JMeter; Continuous Integration tools like Jenkins and GitLab.
