Job Description

Job Title: Inventory Specialist-Temporary

Reports To: Director of Inventory Management and Logistics 

Department: Construction

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt 

*must be able to travel 20% of the time to support warehouses in region, Oracle development and other warehouse coverage as needed

Summary:

A Warehouse Inventory Specialist’s goal is to ensure accuracy of inventory within the warehouse and within its software systems. They are the main points of contact for warehouse operations for day to day processes, processing orders, picking orders, issuing materials, and when inventory problems arise. Warehouse Inventory Specialists are responsible for maintaining warehouse cleanliness, receiving and shipping materials, inventory control, resolving inventory issues, and ensuring that inventory counts remain accurate. They also identify inventory control process issues and coordinate with inventory control managers to implement process improvements.

 Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Maintin organization and cleanliness of warehouse and construction yard.
  • Receive and process material and product shipments from freight companies and provide documentation to accounting office.
  • Stock and organize inventory in warehouse.
  • Pull and issue equipment and materials each day for installation technicians.
  • Check in, prepare, and clean returned customer equipment to be re-issued to installation technicians.
  • Track and document all equipment and materials issued to appropriate work orders and submit through appropriate software
  • Perform monthly counts of all inventory and supplies.
  • Monitor quantity levels for re-order points.
  • Prepare purchase order requests for materials and supplies.
  • Assist co-workers and other team members as needed.
  • Perform other duties as requested or required by management.
  • Maintains accurate records of inventory, equipment maintenance, and mandatory safety training
  • Some regional travel may be required (up to 50%) for QA/QC, audits, and returns process evaluations/support regional requirements as needed
  • Able to communicate effectively with others

Skills and Abilities:

  • Maintain forty (40) hours per week performance level, plus additional hours as job requires, generally with one (1) hour each day unpaid lunch break.
  • Flexibility to work between the hours of 7:00am and 6:00pm; including the weekends, with the possibility to flex up or down hours depending upon business needs.
  • Ability to work without direct supervision as required by job.
  • Maintain honesty and integrity in all dealings while always striving for excellence.
  • Maintain respectful, positive attitude towards co-workers, customers and business partners, always working together as a team.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all customer and company information.
  • Comply with company practices and policies as specified in the Vexus Employee Manual to inclide wear composite toe or better shoes.

  • Maintain work area in neat and orderly fashion (including VEXUS vehicles).
  • Personally identify strengths and limitations and willingly self-correct to meet necessary standards of performance.
  • Establish a record of good attendance and punctuality and maintain accurate time records.
  • Accept accountability and contribute to the overall success of individual personnel and to the company as a whole.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software as required to manage inventory via systems
  • Keyboarding Skills

Education and Experience: 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior inventory experience a must.
  • Must be 18 years old
  • Must be able to obtain or possess certificates of operation required to meet state and OSHA regulations for forklift operations.

Technical Skills:

  • Familiarity with telecommunications industry and utility construction a plus.
  • Experienced with a skid steer and pallet jack.

  • Must be able to lift and carry 50-100lbs weight.
  • Operate a company vehicle on a daily basis.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision.
