Job Title: Warehouse Material Handler 

Department: Warehouse

Reports To: Operations Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

SUMMARY

Responsible for performing a variety of inventory and materials-related duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assists with keeping the warehouse clean and organized, including putting products and equipment away in the proper location and sorting recyclables to minimize solid waste.
  • Perform daily transactions in the E21 MRP system. Must have a working knowledge of MRP and fundamental inventory control procedures and best practices.
  • Maintains First In, First Out (FIFO) in warehouse and stockroom for raw materials, sub-assemblies, finished product and packaging.
  • Fulfills parts requests from throughout the company as needed.
  • Daily coordination and frequent communication with the Production, Purchasing, Shipping and Warehouse teams to remain up-to-date on priority and schedule changes
  • Responsible for coordinating the efficient flow of material and maintaining established inventory levels between multiple warehouse, stockroom, and finished goods locations as well as production.
  • Communicates with appropriate departments regarding incoming material quantity discrepancies, production kits or other parts-related shortages/overages.
  • May receive goods physically and in E21 following established procedures.
  • May be responsible for completing kit or Inter-Company Transfers (ICT) pull duties in support of production, CM's or the stockroom.
  • May be responsible for delivery of material between warehouse and main building.
  • May be responsible for completing daily modification of production materials (“drill”).
  • May assist with return of discrepant material from vendors and internal, following the applicable return procedure for each part.
  • Maintain stock of pre-bagged parts or pre-counted carton bundles at optimum level for pulling daily kits or ICTs.
  • May perform inventory and cycle counts as requested. May be assigned special inventory-related projects.
  • Provides stellar customer service by maintaining professional working relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Maintains regular and punctual attendance in accordance with scheduled work hours.
  • Works under limited supervision. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. A certain degree of independent judgment and creativity is required.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Attention to detail and organizational skills are an essential job function.
  • Effective at working in a team environment. Shares information with others; listens and responds appropriately.
  • Ability to stand for long periods, regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Accuracy in counting, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with MRP/ERP systems, preferably E21, for processing work orders and inventory transactions.
  • Familiarity with email, word processing, and spreadsheet databases.
  • Ability to use standard warehouse equipment such as, but not limited to, hand truck, cart, or pallet jack.
  • May drive company truck. A valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record are required.
  • May operate a forklift. Successful completion of the certification program is required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and 1 or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit or stand as needed. May require walking primarily on a level surface for periodic periods throughout the day. Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting as required to file documents or store materials throughout the workday. Proper lifting techniques required. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to the manufacturing areas where under certain areas require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection. Primary environment: ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment as found in a typical office environment.

The noise level in the work environment is typical of a warehouse environment.
