As a Network Technician, you will be responsible for the maintenance, support, and optimization of the network infrastructure. This role is essential in ensuring that our systems run efficiently, securely, and without disruptions. You will work closely with other IT team members to provide technical support, troubleshoot issues, and contribute to the overall stability and performance of our network. Additional support for end-users via remote and onsite support. As a part of a highly skilled technical team, the chosen candidate will accelerate his/her learning path, technical skill sets, and personal net worth. We offer a competitive pay and benefits package. The Network Technician works well under pressure, can multitask, and engages in emergency technical support. The Network Technician is a core part of the operations team. Additionally, being customer-focused is a must. This individual serves a technical role for both the company and its clients. Types of projects include network equipment migrations and upgrades; full-scale migrations to Cloud-based solutions, storage implementations, platform infrastructure creation; virtual technologies, routing, firewall, wireless, switching, Active Directory support, and multi-factor support/implementations.

VeraPro is currently seeking an experienced Network Technician to join the team.

Position Type: Full Time with weekend availability

Location: Prairieville, LA

Work Environment/Physical Demands: Office/light lifting.

Travel Requirements: Occasional client site visits

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong customer service focus.
  • Foundational understanding of computers and networks.
  • Demonstrated understanding of LAN/WAN protocols and technologies including Ethernet, VLAN, TCP/IP, Routing, Switching, and ACL.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the OSI layer.
  • Knowledge of common networking tools and troubleshooting methodologies including Telnet, SSH, ping, traceroutes, and Wireshark.
  • A valued team player with a can-do attitude: will work collaboratively with the technology team to solve problems and plan and execute projects.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply information in technical manuals, bulletins, and other documents.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills and good organization and time management skills.
  • Exudes a positive spirit and will work cooperatively and patiently with a diverse group in skill set and technology knowledge.
  • Demonstrates flexibility while handling various tasks: can manage competing priorities effectively.
  • Ability to follow internal policies and procedures.
  • Ability to multi-task and effectively manage multiple high-impact projects.
  • Ability to be detail-oriented while keeping the bigger picture in mind.

Preferred Requirements:

  • One or more years of Tech Support experience in a school setting is highly preferred.
  • CompTIA A Certification and Google IT Support Professional Certificate are highly preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a similar technical field is preferred, or an associate degree in a technical field coupled with relevant work experience.
  • Significant years of direct and relevant work experience will be considered.
  • Microsoft, VMware, Cisco, CompTIA, or similar certifications are preferred.
