That’s not just excellence. That’s Excellence. Sustained.® Position: This is a 10-week summer internship position with our Senior Living Asset Management (“SLAM”) team. We are targeting rising seniors looking to gain financial analysis experience with a leading real estate investment trust on a full-time basis. The Intern will have the opportunity to gain real estate industry expertise and develop their financial analysis capabilities by joining Ventas’ lean, fast-paced SLAM team. The Intern will be expected to quickly build a knowledge base on industry trends, patterns and market forces that impact the Company’s portfolio. Throughout the summer, our SLAM Intern Program will be assign a specific research area and will require interaction with both internal and external parties both to learn the business and to aid in a project that will conclude with a final-week presentation on their work. While we do not require any prior real estate or healthcare experience, we do require candidates who are smart, humble, and anxious to learn, work hard, and be an integral part of a company whose track record speaks for itself. Intern will generally be responsible for: Conducting research in a specific focus area that may include: Performance trends and leading indicators that impact the future viability of cash flows in the SLAM portfolio Providing a new manner of measuring operational success of the portfolio and markets Assisting in the understanding of a new investment opportunity or risk to an existing investment thesis Learning, monitoring and reporting on industry trends, publications, news releases, etc. Portfolio benchmarking and industry/competitor/market analysis Earnings results for other healthcare REITs and healthcare operators Research public policy that may impact the future of the industry Working with the Company’s Strategy and Analytics function, aid in the identification of performance correlations, demand drivers, and leading performance indicators for seniors housing Maintaining and updating data and key date reminders in the Ventas Asset Management System (“VAMS”) Providing general analytic and investment modeling support to others within the Asset Management department Analyzing various data sets to determine key performance indicators Completing ad hoc projects, reports or other requests as needed Qualifications: Successful completion of several finance, economics, or accounting courses Currently enrolled junior at a four-year college or university in a relevant course of study Microsoft Office proficiency, specifically in Excel and PowerPoint is required Familiarity with financial statements (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flows) Confident self-starter and quick learner who requires minimal supervision, is comfortable with ambiguity and very adaptable Strong quantitative skills as well as written and oral communication skills Must be able to work full-time for a minimum of 10 weeks during Summer 2023 Ventas, Inc. offers a competitive compensation and benefits package to the successful candidate.
