Varsity Tutors is Hiring a Remote Senior Brand Experience Manager

Description:

Nerdy and Varsity Tutors are looking for a Director of Brand Experience (UX) to join a growing Brand & Product Experience team. This candidate will lead a team of visual designers and creatives, and will be accountable for crafting our brand, acquisition and product marketing executions. The candidate will re-imagine and advocate a design-forward, customer-led, consistent, and intuitive customer experience across all of our channels and within the product experience. The right candidate will understand the underlying business drivers, dynamic states involved in the user journey, and how their work fits our larger ecosystem while leveraging performance data to help improve brand visibility and new user conversion. The candidate will play a critical role in Nerdy, Varsity Tutors and Varsity Tutors for Schools transformation and is responsible for bringing our brands to life and improve the customer experience.

The successful candidate works well in managing the creative process, iterative design, and quantitative and qualitative data to inform their design strategy. The ideal candidate has experience designing brands, marketing executions, consumer digital products and understands how design as a service is involved in delivering value throughout the customer journey. This designer will work in an interdisciplinary team of visual designers, UX designers, copywriters, and marketing strategists by testing, learning, and iterating to deliver relevant, simple, and delightful assets and executions.

Qualifications: 

  • 7 years of full-time, professional design experience

  • Undergraduate degree in design or portfolio school certification

  • Portfolio demonstrating design problems and their solutions

  • Have solid production and prototyping skills in Figma (required) and Adobe Creative Suite (preferred).

  • Knowledge/understanding of design best practices 

  • Proven ability to take direction, remain organized, communicate effectively and work autonomously

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong collaboration skills, flexibility, and an understanding that the best ideas can come from anyone, not just designers

  • Ability to gracefully receive constructive feedback

Bonus, but not required:

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Ability to communicate larger customer journeys through site maps and flow maps

  • Conduct smaller usability tests and research projects to support your design

Responsibilities:

  • Supervising the creative process to ensure all team members complete their tasks and contribute to establishing positive customer experiences

  • Reviewing designs to ensure they're accurate and appropriate for the intended use

  • Establishing and maintaining design standards for company use

  • Delegating tasks to team members according to their unique strengths and skill sets to ensure the team remains efficient, organized, and productive

  • Identifying problems across channels and offering suggestions and feedback to resolve them

  • Partnering with Sr Manager Product Experience and managing relationships by acting as a liaison between cross-functional partners and designers

  • Identifying innovative opportunities through market research, analytics, and information gathering

  • Meeting with cross-functional partners to understand the business goals, target audience, and other factors that may impact acquisition approach

  • Creating design briefs based on business needs and desired outcomes

  • Developing strategic plans for the brand team by setting goals and measuring team progress toward accomplishing these goals

  • Facilitating and documenting the design process

  • Prioritizing and assigning tasks to ensure the completion of projects within the specified time and budget

  • Collaborating with cross-functional leaders to allocate essential resources to help the brand team perform efficiently

  • Developing employees through training, workshops, and annual reviews

  • Maintaining updated knowledge of consumer trends, market pricing, competitors, and end-user feedback and experiences with products

  • Create user-centered designs by balancing user journey needs and feedback, user research, and technical constraints/opportunities.

  • Iteratively concept (from low- to high-fidelity) and deliver solutions through testing, learning, and iteration.

  • Utilize existing design guidelines while being comfortable inventing new ways to meet user needs more elegantly.

  • Design for differences across channel and platform

  • Communicate complex design concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences and levels of the organization

  • Continuously gather inspiration, follow industry trends, and contribute to the broader team’s understanding of best-in-class references. Author case studies, design patterns, and presentations to educate the wider team on emerging design approaches

  • Manage workload independently while juggling multiple projects and priorities and know when to ask for help.
