What you’ll do

• Design and implement APIs working closely with the mobile and other platform teams to ship products efficiently
• Build, deploy and maintain the Operations platform which will power Varo’s growth by reducing operations costs. The operations platform is built using microservices design patterns.
• Design, develop, test, refactor and scale frontend, and backend implementations of new and existing consumer product features
• Responsible for taking cross-functional products to our consumers and Internal banking representatives while being deeply involved in ensuring the post-production activities like stability & monitoring.
• Work with engineers to design solution architecture and develop a scalable architecture and system
• Work closely with our product team to launch new features
• Develop thoroughly tested code and conduct quality assurance on all new code alongside our Quality engineering team to maintain the performance of web applications and microservices
• Collaborate effectively with other Platform (DevOps & Security) teams for scaling and security needs and architects to solve complex problems spanning their respective areas

You’ll bring the following required skills and experiences

• Bachelors in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Statistics, or other equivalent quantitative fields. A Masters's degree is a plus.
• 5 years of experience in Frontend, backend/enterprise application development
• 6 years of experience in frontend and backend systems languages including NextJS, React.js, Redux, Java/Kotlin, RDBMS, Queues, and Streaming architecture
• Previously architected and evolved high-scale platform solutions
• Experience in databases, microservices, real-time messaging, and cloud is needed
• Strong competency in client-side architecture, distributed systems, event-driven patterns, high availability design
• Strong experience working with third parties, creating a scalable framework around the building and maintaining APIs and integrations, and working with cross-functional teams to help deliver business goals.
• Self-starter and self-motivated with the proven ability to deliver results in a fast-paced, high-energy environment
• Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex engineering problems to a non-technical audience
• Works effectively with cross-functional teams to build a trusted partnership
• Working experience in the consumer-focused finance industry preferred
• Experience with Agile methodologies
