About this Opportunity:
The Director of Supply Chain is responsible for all aspects of supplier relationship and establishing/directing several key functional areas, which serve as the foundation to the company's operations. These areas are: Purchasing, Planning, Scheduling, Inventory Control, Shipping, Receiving, Warehousing, Supplier Evaluation/Selection/Development. The Director of Supply Chain develops policies, procedures, and objectives for the respective managers within these departments; and provides a high level of support to “Key Customers” and their supporting account manager. This position is also responsible for many other duties and tasks as assigned.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversees, mentors, and improves all functions within Supply Chain Management to include: Purchasing, Planning, Scheduling, Inventory Control, Shipping/Receiving, Warehousing, Supplier Evaluation/Selection/Development.
  • Implements SIOP processes where applicable; to align customer demand, supplier capacity/supply/demand, internal capacity/supply/demand, production plans, and schedules.
  • Utilize the plant capacity plan and master production schedule to optimize customer delivery expectations working in hand with other departments with in Operations, as part of the Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning (SIOP) process.
  • Continually re-evaluates org structure, capacity, and capability of SCM group against both Vander-Bend and customer needs.
  • Implements Supply Chain Risk Management tools and strategies.
  • Brings a strategic mindset, and ability to solve complex problems for Vander-Bend and its customers.
  • Frequently communicates with Senior Management to maintain alignment, resolve issues, and/or receive feedback.
  • Develops methods and actions for strategic inventory placement, and overall inventory reduction.
  • Prepares, negotiates, and manages supplier contracts and agreements.
  • Oversees Approved Supplier List and approves addition or deletion of suppliers in accordance with company policy and supplier performance.
  • Approves purchasing expenditures in accordance with company policy.
  • Establishes and implements short and long-range goals, objectives, policies and operating procedures.
  • Monitors and evaluates program effectiveness, and continually improves the system.
  • Develops cost reduction initiatives including: Material Programs, Alternate Sourcing, Value Analysis, Economic Order Quantity.
  • Together with subordinate staff, oversees the collection and dissemination metrics and other data needed to determine supplier performance, including on-time delivery, supplier quality, and related performance.
  • Controls and monitors inventories to ensure accuracy and accountability.
  • Reviews compliance with ISO 13485:2003 and 9001:2008 requirements and company policies.

Job Requirements / Skills:

  • 10 years of progressively responsible positions in Supply Chain Management.
  • Four-year degree in Business, Engineering, or closely related field from an accredited college.
  • 2 years of Contract Manufacturing Industry experience.
  • Must have purchasing, planning, logistics, scheduling background.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate with suppliers and develop strong relationships.
  • A thorough understanding of supply-chain strategies including VMI, Kanban Systems, SIOP, Risk Management, Value Analysis, TCO, etc.
  • Requires in-depth knowledge of Contract Manufacturer and OEM manufacturing, supply chain operations.
  • Must be comfortable dealing with a strong and passionate management team, and of the ability to positively influence the group when necessary. Independence, detail-orientation, creativity, tenacity, and flexibility are essential characteristics.
  • Command of Microsoft Word and Excel (including Pivot Tables and Macros).
  • Broad and deep knowledge/experience in Tier 1-2 ERP systems. Infor Visual 9 experience preferred.
