Valley Medical is Hiring a Lead Medical Assistant Near Twin Cities, MN

Job Overview: Provide guidance to new and current medical assistants on clinical processes. Work as a medical assistant by helping medical providers in performing patient visit by taking patients’ vital signs, discussing their medical history and finishing clinical or administrative tasks by putting patient information in their medical records. Medical Assistants may also help physicians with tasks like getting equipment or recording data during patient exams.
Primary Responsibility:

Medical Assistant Responsibilities 80%:• Rooming patients for providers by performing intake, gathering vitals, verifying medical records, and confirming purpose of visit.
• Records patient information such as vital signs, weight, and changes in medical history.
• Perform clerical work such as requesting prior authorizations, reviewing medical records, and various phone calls.
• Prep exam rooms for clinical procedures and assisting practitioners with patient care.
• Collecting urine specimen and performing rapid urine drug screening for each patient.
• Performs phlebotomy through venipuncture and processes all blood collection specimens.
• Label all samples according to outline procedures and policies.
• Maintains confidentiality when interacting with patients, families, personnel and the public.
• Maintains positive public relations image with peers, patients and visitors by presenting a positive, helpful attitude.
• Administer or handle medications.
• Answers telephone calls, identifying self and clinic/practice with proper patient triage.
• Scribe as necessary
• Other tasks as assigned.

Lead Responsibilities 20%:• Demonstrates competency and professional responsibility in the medical assistant role.
• First point of contact for MA questions.
• Help facilitate and coordinate training for Medical Assistants.
• Conduct regular Medical Assistant meetings.
• Review and audit MA work as assigned.
• Work with management to meet process improvement objectives.
• Ability to float between satellite locations (Mileage Reimbursement provided).
• Ability to manage multiple, complex projects simultaneously without compromising quality
• Consulting and influence skills to provide recommendations and follow up with Clinic manager
Preferred Skills and Knowledge:
• Strong attention to detail.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Previous patient care experience.
• Medical Terminology.
• Utilizes photocopy and facsimile machine.
• Basic Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Strong Leadership qualities.

Required Education, Experience and Credentials:
• High School Diploma or Equivalent is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, or a related is preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification highly preferred or previous blood draw experience.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially with Word and Excel.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time.
• Able to work in fast-paced environment to maintain testing quality and efficiency.

Additional Position Details: (hours, locations, commute)• Ability to facilitate for up to 10 hours a day
• Ability to travel up to 10%
• Constantly required to sit, use hands to handle or feel, talk and hear
• Frequently required to reach with hands and arms
• Occasionally required to stand, walk and stoop, kneel, and crouch
• Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
