University of Wisconsin Dept of Family Medicine is Hiring a Rural Family Medicine with Academic Health System - UW-Madison (Beaver Dam, WI) Near Madison, WI

The University of Wisconsin Department of Family Medicine and Community Health, UW Health Beaver Dam Clinic, in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin,  is interested in a Family Medicine physician to provide the full spectrum of family medicine skills and patient care, with OB optional. This position will be involved in clinical teaching of medical students and other learners. This position may involve academic scholarly work.

This clinic has a small-town feel with the support of a large, academic system and connections with specialists. 

Overview of Position:

DFMCH is seeking family medicine physicians who encompass a variety of skills that relate to how they engage with patients and work in teams. Faculty at UW-Madison have the opportunity for professional growth that will allow them to pursue additional clinical and academic interests. In addition to their clinic roles, faculty may have opportunities to practice OMT, Integrative Health, inpatient medicine, POCUS, and more. There are also opportunities in the medical school for formal teaching roles, may be opportunities within the organization for leadership roles, and may also be scholarly research focused projects and committees that a faculty member can participate. Clinical duties are defined with department leadership approval based on the finalists career interests and based on the clinical needs.

Community : Beaver Dam, WI is located just northeast of Madison. Some of the providers and staff live in Madison, and some live in Beaver Dam. Beaver Dam, WI, located in Dodge County, is a thriving city of approximately 17,000 residents, which was settled with the arrival of the Milwaukee Railroad. Beaver Dam is a family-friendly community with an excellent local economy and a diverse mix of businesses. This safe community has a low cost of living, and offers progressive public and private school systems.

Beaver Dam is home to a 6,000-acre lake surrounded by rich farmlands and 300 acres of beautiful parks. The community offers a variety of dining and coffee options, a local brewery, plenty of shopping, an open-air outdoor Farmers Market, a thriving theater, music and arts scene, golf courses, sporting activities and outdoor recreation, such as fishing, boating, camping, hiking, and a community calendar of events that is filled up all year long. The nearby Horicon Marsh National Wildlife Refuge has over 300 species of birds, over 10 miles of hiking, two boardwalks with habitat and wildlife viewing sites, and an opportunity for canoeing and kayaking.

Beaver Dam is situated just 35 minutes from Madison, 1 hour from Milwaukee and the Fox Valley, 1 1/2 hours from Green Bay, and 2 1/2 hours north of Chicago. Its perfectly located in Wisconsin to be near all of the great amenities the state has to offer.

Anticipated start date:  2023-2024 (remain flexible start date for final candidate)

Requirements:

  • MD or DO or equivalent
  • Wisconsin medical licensure required prior to start date.
  • Certification by or eligible for certification by American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM) or American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians (AOBFP).
  • Successful completion of a fully accredited Family Medicine Residency Program.
