Utz Quality Foods is currently seeking a 1st Shift Production Manager for our Grand Rapids, MI manufacturing facility. This position is responsible to oversee and manage 1st shift production operations while ensuring a high degree of packaging and processing excellence.

The ideal candidate will have leadership and supervisory skills necessary to lead others along with strong organization and communication skills. This position requires working knowledge of processing and packaging equipment as well as the ability to maintain plant efficiency. This is a full-time, exempt position reporting to the Plant Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manages 1st Shift Processing and Packaging Departments. Shift hours: 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM
• Ensures that production requirements as indicated by the production scheduler are met in the most efficient manner while maintaining high quality standards.
• Assure product quality specifications thru maintaining product specification tolerances, monitoring the processes, instructing the personnel, and assisting in daily product review
• Responsible to ensure that Utz processing and packaging standards are consistently maintained.
• Coordinates and builds lines of communication within the departments.
• Monitors and analyzes labor hours and crew size needed to efficiently run production lines.
• Oversees training programs for the shift and provides training for all newly hired associates.
• Involved in all on-boarding, off-boarding, and disciplinary action documentation on the shift.
• Participate in Daily Vital Signs meetings and shift huddles
• Analyzes existing production lines and recommends adaptations and innovations.
• Monitors and analyzes RedZone for machine efficiencies, quality checks and downtime.
• Responsible for tasks in the D365 Operating System.
• Responsible to follow and enforce safety rules and address unsafe equipment and practices.
• Responsible for quality and food safety practices and to follow requirements of the SQF System.
• Provide leadership support to quality personnel
• Follows instructions and training for reporting of food safety problems to appropriate personnel.
• College degree preferred but not necessary with increased knowledge base and applicable experience.
• Requires planning abilities to schedule production and maintain plant efficiency.
• Knowledge and skills in production operations and product quality.
• Requires problem solving skills.
• Interpersonal and coaching skills needed to lead others.
