Job Summary

The Green Center for Reproductive Biology Sciences at UT Southwestern mission is to promote and support cutting-edge, integrative, and collaborative basic research, with a focus on signaling, gene regulation, and genome function. The Green Center fosters an environment of innovation, teamwork, and professionalism.

The Kraus Lab is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Research Technician to join our dynamic team studying gene regulation in various biological models. The successful candidate should have experience with various molecular and biochemical techniques, and will be responsible for carrying out supervised research assignments and contributing to the overall success of our research projects.

Experience and Education

• Bachelor's degree with major coursework in field of assignment and no experience required.
• Two (2) years college with emphasis in coursework in field of assignment and two (2) years of laboratory experience at level of Laboratory Technical Assistant or equivalent.
• High school graduation or GED and four (4) years laboratory experience to include two (2) years at level of Laboratory Technical Assistant or equivalent.

Lab Duties

• General laboratory support such as making solutions, dishwashing, autoclaving, cleaning, inventory and stocking of supplies and ensuring smooth operation of the lab.
• Provide technical support to various trainees and researchers on projects involving molecular and biochemical approaches, as well as mammalian and bacterial cell culture.
• Provide support for the maintenance, care, breeding and genomic screening of mice in the laboratory mouse colony associated with various research projects.
• Compilation and evaluation of data and other information for publications may be requested PI or Center manager may request assistance with special lab management projects.

Job Duties

• Performs routine scientific and medical research work in science area such as biology, chemistry, physics, or other related scientific field.
• Assembles and/or operates various laboratory equipment and apparatus.
• Records research data in accordance with prescribed procedures, discussing results with supervisor.
• Assists in collection of data for project reports.
• Reads literature and confers with supervisor concerning implementation of new procedures.
• May plan for, and provide working supervision to, work of laboratory personnel of lower grade engaged in limited phase of research project.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
