US Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation is Hiring a Remote Financial Planning Specialist, CG-0501-09 (Appointment NTE 2 Years)

Duties

  • Reviews, analyzes, and edits budget submissions and allocations to ensure that Division operations are adequately funded. Verifies financial computations and reviews submissions to ensure they adhere to policy and procedural guidelines.
  • Monitors assigned expenses to ensure the accomplishment of Division and Corporate operating goals. Reviews and responds to routine inquiries relating to DRR or particular organizational unit budgets.
  • Monitors and verifies fund charges and accounting data to correct inaccurate information concerning budget, time and attendance and travel.
  • Utilizes software including databases, spreadsheets and dashboards in conjunction with financial information systems to monitor expenditures, review and analyze financial and coding data, and generate ad-hoc reports for use by Division management.
  • Utilizes data visualization software to present financial and statistical data in a clear manner.
  • Compiles and analyzes management statistical data and presents results to various audiences.

The candidate selected will be offered a time limited appointment not-to-exceed two years, which may be extended to a maximum of seven years based on workload requirements and organizational staffing authorizations.

Qualifications

Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious/spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Additional qualifications information can be found here.

To qualify for the CG-09, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS/CG 07 grade level or above in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience in three of the four following areas: using automated financial systems to access data, producing financial data reports, monitoring expenditures, or analyzing cost management and budget initiatives.

EDUCATION: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related

OR

COMBINING EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Combinations of successfully completed education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements for the CG-09 level.

The range of pay shown includes base pay plus supplemental locality adjustments. The locality rates for these duty locations range from a low of 16.82% to a high of 51.75%. You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.

2. Ability to organize and evaluate budget and financial management data in the development and maintenance of the budget.

3. Knowledge of managing and reconciling budgetary and financial accounting programs and data.

4. Ability to use accounting and financial management software applications, specifically databases, dashboards, Microsoft Excel and SharePoint, and automated financial systems to prepare and coordinate organizational reports and analyses.

5. Ability to communicate orally to provide training and presentations.

6. Ability to communicate in writing to identify problems, develop solutions, and relay findings.
