Job Summary: Surgical Counselors are responsible for educating patients on all surgery including cataract surgery options and LASIK procedures. They act as a liaison between the patient, surgeon, clinic staff, and surgical facility in all aspects of the surgical scheduling process. Schedules all patient surgery, pre-operative, and post-operative appointments. Reviews all surgical fees related to the procedure. Develops and distributes the weekly surgical schedule to key departments. They are responsible to continually monitor and the schedule looking for inefficiencies and attempts to organize the surgery schedule by filling surgery vacancies and rescheduling patients as needed. Counselors should make job related decisions and establish work priorities with limited supervision
