US Congressional Budget Office is Hiring a Health Analyst (Medicare) Near Washington, DC

Duties

CBOs Budget Analysis Division seeks an analyst for its Medicare Cost Estimates Unit, which communicates regularly with and provides assistance to Congressional committees; prepares multiyear budget projections; and produces cost estimates for legislation affecting Medicare and programs of the Public Health Service.

Qualifications

Candidates must have a strong interest in health policy and must have either a graduate degree in public policy, public administration, public health, economics, statistics, or a related field or a bachelors degree in one of those fields and at least four years of relevant work experience.
Candidates exceeding those requirements also are encouraged to apply; experience will be considered when determining salary and job responsibilities.
Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a Tier 1 (NACI) investigation.
The position requires the following
A desire to contribute directly to the analysis of health policy in a nonpartisan setting;
Strong quantitative skills;
Exceptional oral and written communication skills, especially the ability to clearly explain analytical results to colleagues at CBO, Congressional staff, and Members of Congress;
Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with a team; and
Facility with handling multiple projects simultaneously, often under tight deadlines.
The following skills and experience are desirable but not required:
Recent experience analyzing health policy or health data;
Knowledge of health care financing and federal health care programs;
Knowledge of federal budget, legislative, and regulatory processes; and
Experience with data analysis software, such as SAS, STATA, Python, or R
