Urban Strategies is Hiring a Remote Human Resource Generalist, Payroll

Job Title: Human Resource Generalist, Payroll

Location: Hybrid, St. Louis, MO

Position Type: Full-Time

Pay Range: Starting at $50,000


Job Summary:

The Human Resources (HR) Generalist serves as an advisor, advocate, and functional specialist supporting people operations at Urban Strategies. This role fulfills a wide variety of essential functions to help leaders achieve business goals while offering a great employment experience for all employees, with a strong emphasis on payroll management.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but serves as a supportive and collaborative resource organization wide.


Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs
  • Ensures accurate and timely completion of data entry tasks necessary to remain compliant
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, while referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Payroll Processing: Manage and oversee the end-to-end payroll process for a workforce of 200 employees across multiple states.
  • ADP Workforce Now: Utilize ADP Workforce Now to process payroll, including data entry, verification, and reconciliation.
  • Multi-State Payroll: Ensure compliance with payroll regulations in multiple states, including tax withholding and reporting requirements.
  • Adjustments and Garnishments: Handle employee payroll adjustments, deductions, and garnishments accurately and in compliance with applicable laws.
  • Time and Attendance: Collaborate with HR and managers to verify and process time and attendance data.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Education and Experience:

  • 3 years HR experience, including processing Payroll through ADP
  • Experience processing payroll for a large workforce (200 employees) and handling multi-state payroll complexities.
  • Proficiency in payroll tax regulations, wage garnishments, and payroll adjustments.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in payroll processing.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • High level of discretion and confidentiality when handling sensitive payroll information.


Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
