Urban Resource Institute is Hiring an Intake Program Manager (Bilingual) - New York, NY Near New York, NY

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Intake Program Manager will oversee the creation and operations of the Centralized Intake Program. This is a new initiative for the Justice Initiatives (JI) department in an effort to standardize our intake process for the JI programs and create a trauma-informed process for clients. The IPM will do and oversee the outreach and intakes for the 5 of the Justice Initiatives departments including the Legal Education and Advocacy Program (LEAP), the Economic Empowerment Program (EEP), the Crime Victims Service Program (CVSP), the Abusive Partner Intervention Program Harlem (APIP), and the People and Animals Living Safely program (PALS). Outreach and intakes will be done with potential clients that are currently residing in shelter or residing in community based on each program’s need.

Salary: $67,000 - $70,000

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Program Development

  • Develop a standard intake process for the 5 Justice Initiative Programs and work collaboratively with each program to ensure success.
  • Create a standardized intake for all sites & collaborate effectively with each team. Participate in agency wide intake standardization process.
  • Conduct intake assessments in a client centered and trauma-informed way to assess client’s current needs and also their goals for participating in the program.
  • Ability to explain the benefits of each program and case management support services provided to clients.
  • Maintain long-term relationship with shelter staff and perform outreach workshops to shelters and community partners.
  • Sets up intake assessment appointments directly with the clients.
  • Create systems and processes to make this work happen efficiently and effectively.
  • Be committed to regular in person outreach to shelter sites and community-based partners.

Supervision

  • Supervise Intake Specialists and provide weekly supervision.
  • Hold team meetings and ensure that all members of the team are meeting their goals.
  • Conduct and lead initial case conference meetings with team members, as needed, to discuss the clients that have been assessed and recommend which track for the client.

Data Management

  • Accurately inputs and track metrics in selected database and related data and other duties as may be assigned by the Program Manager.
  • Remain knowledgeable about each programs intake deliverables and ensure meeting those numbers.
  • Work closely with QIET team to ensure accurate data collection and reporting.

Other

  • Meet weekly with AVP for supervision and perform other duties assigned by the AVP.
  • Attend training seminars.
  • Participate in monthly staff meetings and in training seminars conducted to enhance and develop one’s skills.
  • Attend coalitions, taskforces, working groups and committees focused on relevant employment issues as directed.
  • Other duties as requested based on department, program and/or organizational needs.

SPECIFICATIONS FOR EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES

  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Business or a Human Service field (i.e. Social Work).

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Required: Bilingual English and Spanish.
  • Commitment to the vision and mission of Urban Resource Institute.
  • Demonstrated passion and commitment to public interest and an understanding of trauma-informed services.
  • Minimum of one (3) year-of experience in human services.
  • 1 year of supervisory experience would be preferred.
  • Knowledge of educational and employment barriers and resources for low-income and survivors of violence in NYC.
  • Ability to be empathetic and practice active listening when engaging with clients, specifically survivors of domestic violence.
  • Highly motivated, with proven capacity to work independently, take initiative, and thrive in high-paced entrepreneurial environment.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity and experience with and/or knowledge of domestic violence within and against disenfranchised communities including individuals who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and/or HIV-affected, the elderly and individuals with mental health issues.
  • Experience collaborating in a multi-disciplinary, diverse team, maintaining a healthy work environment for staff that encourages professionalism, respect, equality, diversity and continuous improvement.
  • Strong writing and public speaking skills with an ability to manage and organize multiple projects in a busy, pressured working environment.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team, assess priorities, take initiative, handle multiple assignments, and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with people of diverse educational, cultural and professional backgrounds.
  • Must be a responsible individual with a reputable character, known to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and cope with stress and crises in a calm manner.
  • Willingness to travel to residential and community program spaces, and community partner sites
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Docs, and Apricot.

SPECIFICATIONS FOR WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • EEP’s office is located in the Grand Central area
  • The work environment varies given work location but generally is bright and medium in environmental noise, medium in work-pace, and high in work volume and diversity of initiatives/tasks
  • Work schedule includes three days working in the office or across URI program sites and two days working from home; flexibility is required to meet on-site demands throughout the week.
  • In general, this position will work Monday-Friday 9am to 5pm with some exceptions required for outreach engagements as needed.
