UPshow is Hiring a Staff Accountant Near Chicago, IL

About the Role:

UPshow is seeking a Staff Accountant to execute our day-to-day accounting workstreams. This role will report to the Controller and will have exposure to all aspects of the business with strong career advancement opportunities. Responsibilities:

  • Perform general ledger transaction categorization, ensuring consistent month-to-month treatment; 
  • Analyze, understand, and reconcile balance sheet accounts in conjunction with period-end procedures
  • Oversee AP processes, including vendor setup, tracking and paying vendor invoices, resolving account discrepancies, 1099 preparation and filing, credit card maintenance and reconciliation, employee expense reimbursements
  • Assist with AR processes, including customer billing and invoicing, identifying and attempting collection of delinquent accounts, resolving account discrepancies, and facilitating all customer billing inquiries
  • Assist with general finance-related activities including daily treasury activities and transaction coding.
  • Assist with the interim and annual GAAP external financial audit
  • Assist with all facets of tax compliance, including but not limited to; federal income tax, state income tax, sales tax, and payroll tax. 
  • Ad hoc projects as directed by the leadership team

Qualifications: 

  • Analytical Mindset – You are detail-oriented, and organized, and have strong financial and analytical capabilities.

  • Interpersonal Skills – Excellent internal/external communication skills are required, as this person will be collaborating with colleagues across multiple functions and interacting with customers and vendors regularly.
  • Adaptability – You are energized and excited by working in a fast-paced environment and can effectively manage the priorities of the role as changes occur.
  • Knowledge of Finance and Accounting – You love it when debits and credit balances.

What we require from you:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent field
  • 2 - 3 years of full cycle AP experience
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; highly detail oriented and resourceful
  • Highly motivated, self-directed, able to work independently
  • Thrives in a demanding, start-up, fast-paced environment
  • Highly proficient in Excel
  • Experience with Quickbooks or other relevant accounting software is a plus
  • Experience with accounting for sales and use tax is a plus
