UPPER VALLEY CAREER CENTER is Hiring an Adult Education Welding Instructor Near Dayton, OH

General Job Description:

Part-time Evening Instructors needed. Applicants can teach just one or several courses. Each class is approximately 4-5 weeks in length, 2 nights a week. 

Upper Valley Career Center Adult Technology Center is seeking to fill a vacancy for a Welding Instructor with GMAW/GTAW/SMAW and Plasma cutting knowledge. Part-Time Instructors are an integral part of the Adult Technology’s staff, helping us provide all learners with the highest quality learning opportunities when, where and how they want it.

 

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Assists program supervisor with curriculum development, course scheduling and Program Advisory Committee meetings.

  • Plan, prepare, and execute training strategies by facilitating classes and providing technical assistance, and/or individual coaching.

  • Work collaboratively with employers to ensure the curriculum and learning outcomes prepare employees/students for success at work.

  • Determine the appropriate tools, techniques, methodologies, and timing of improvement activities to meet business objectives.

  • Develop customized participant training materials, active learning activities, and events.

  • Deliver customized Welding courses to include Mig, Tig, and Stick welding.

  • Manage classroom and shop/lab to ensure a productive and safe learning environment.

  • Work closely with business leadership to develop key performance measurements.

  • Strong organizational skills, interpersonal skills, teamwork, and ability to prioritize multiple tasks while remaining customer-focused.

  • Ability to work independently, remain flexible in a fast-paced environment and handle customer issues in a timely manner. 

 

Qualifications:

  • At least five years of direct occupational experience.

  •  At a minimum, occupational experience has to have occurred at least three years within the last five years.

  • Strong organizational skills, interpersonal skills, teamwork, and ability to prioritize multiple tasks while remaining customer-focused.

  • Ability to work independently, remain flexible in a fast-paced environment, and handle customer issues in a timely manner.

  • Must hold a valid driver’s license and be insurable under the District’s standard insurance policy terms.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Competency in adult-focused learning.

  • Meets all mandated health-screening requirements.

  • Maintains a record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment. Able to successfully pass a BCI/FBI background check.

  • Maintains compliance with drug-free workplace rules, Board policies and other applicable procedures/guidelines.

 

Salary:

Appropriate placement on the Adult Education Intermittent/Hourly Salary Schedule to be determined by education and experience. Compensation is $25.00 per hour for In-House Training and $30.00 per hour for Off-Site Training, on an as-needed basis. Maximum 839 working hours in an academic year. One-year contract with opportunity for renewal.

 

Other Benefits:

State Teachers Retirement System and Worker’s Compensation offered. Upon hire, additional benefits may be offered depending upon hours worked, job classification, and placement on the Upper Valley Career Center Salary Schedule. Some benefits are a shared cost between the employee and the Board of Education.

 

Performance Evaluation:

Job performance is evaluated according to policy provisions and contractual agreements adopted by the Upper Valley Career Center.

The Upper Valley Career Center provides career and technical education for high school students and post-secondary education for adults. Over 800 high school juniors and seniors are gaining skills in 27 career fields. High school students earn a diploma from their home/associate school.
