University of Pittsburgh Physicians is hiring a Physician Assistant or Acute Care Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner to support UPMC Center for Community Hospital Medicine at UPMC Passavant. 

Where You’ll Work:

• Community hospital with over 200 beds, 25-35bed ER.
• 7day on and 7day off, flexible schedule 
• Total team of 3 to 8-day APPs and 4 to 6-night APPs. 
• Daily workflow that allows top of license practice:
  • Day team: APPs and attending physician are paired as a team. The workload is split between the APP and attending. 
  • Independently evaluate your patients.
  • Collaborate with attending Phyicians, participate in table rounds and patient discussions in person and/or via phone call/text to discuss patient care decisions.
• Excellent APP culture, great autonomy with strong support and mentorship as needed.
• Collaborate with other medical professionals in care coordination rounds and huddle to facilitate transition of care.

Purpose:
The Hospitalist Staff Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a Physician Assistant or Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner and a member of the care delivery team. The Hospitalist Staff APP is responsible to set the standards for the level and quality of care. The Hospitalist Staff APP has responsibility, authority and accountability for the provision of care through supervision by and collaboration with a physician. The Hospitalist Staff APP manages and provides patient care activities for a group of patients and their families through the application of independent judgment, communication and collaboration with all team members. The role of the Hospitalist Staff APP encompasses the beginnings of leadership, partnership, collaboration and supervision. The Hospitalist Staff APP establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with physicians, other health care providers, patients and their families, to achieve desired patient outcomes throughout the continuum of care. The Hospitalist Staff APP begins to demonstrate a commitment to the community and to their healthcare profession. The successful candidate will be placed according to years and months of experience for employment purposes.
