UPMC is Hiring a PA or CRNP (ACNP), Center for Community Hospitalist Medicine, Nocturnist Floater Near Pittsburgh, PA

University of Pittsburgh Physicians is hiring a full-time Physician Assistant or Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner to support UPMC Center for Community Hospital Medicine. The Hospitalist Specialist Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a Physician Assistant or Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner and a member of the care delivery team. The Hospitalist APP Specialist has responsibility, authority, and accountability for care provision through supervision by and collaboration with a physician. The Hospitalist APP Specialist manages and provides patient care activities for a group of hospitalized patients and their families through the application of independent judgment, communication, and collaboration with all team members. The Hospitalist APP Specialist establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with physicians, other health care providers, patients, and their families, to achieve desired patient outcomes throughout the continuum of care. 

Where You’ll Work:

  • Open ICU Hospital. 
  • 7night on/7nights off, with flexible scheduling. 
  • Work with team of APPs to cross cover the hospital and collaborate with the emergency room department to evaluate, accept, admit, and manage acutely ill patients.
    • Night team composes of 1 doc/3 APP, 2 team APPs or 1 APP each week depending on the location. 
  • 3-6month advance schedule posting to allow personal life planning. 
  • Excellent APP culture, great autonomy with strong support and mentorship as needed.
  • Practice to the top of your license, independently evaluate and manage your patients and bill for your services.

  • Comprehensive 80-day (16weeks) training and on-boarding program through CCHM Transition to Practice Program: Critical Care for the Hospitalist APP.
    • 5weeks of training with the day team, 5weeks of training with the night team and 6weeks of training in the ICU with intensivist.
    • Training includes Code management, ventilator management, procedures such as intubation, arterial and central lines, POCUS and USPIV.
    • Access to a series of chalk talks on critical care and pulmonary topics at UPMC EAST Critical Care teaching service.
    • Critical Care for the Hospitalist Series through the Society of Hospital Medicine.
    • AAPA Hospitalist Bootcamp. 
    • Weekly touch base APP leadership.
    • End of training assessment tool to evaluate the APP’s readiness to practice.
    • Mentorship assignment at the end of training to promote professional growth.
    • UPMC level Certificate of Completion will be rewarded.

Purpose:
The Hospitalist Staff Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a Physician Assistant or Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner and a member of the care delivery team. The Hospitalist Staff APP is responsible to set the standards for the level and quality of care. The Hospitalist Staff APP has responsibility, authority and accountability for the provision of care through supervision by and collaboration with a physician. The Hospitalist Staff APP manages and provides patient care activities for a group of patients and their families through the application of independent judgment, communication and collaboration with all team members. The role of the Hospitalist Staff APP encompasses the beginnings of leadership, partnership, collaboration and supervision. The Hospitalist Staff APP establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with physicians, other health care providers, patients and their families, to achieve desired patient outcomes throughout the continuum of care. The Hospitalist Staff APP begins to demonstrate a commitment to the community and to their healthcare profession.

The successful candidate will be placed according to years and months of experience for employment purposes.
