JOB SUMMARY:

The Annual Giving Manager is responsible for advancing UPrep’s mission by creating a culture of philanthropy that informs, engages, and excites the community to participate in meaningful ways. This position reports to the Director of Development and leads internal and external team members in the planning and execution of our two annual fundraisers: The Puma Fund and UPrep Together, raising more than $1.8M annually for the school. The Annual Giving Manager will design and build a comprehensive communication and solicitation plan and will engage the community through donor-centric fundraising strategies and valuable storytelling. The Annual Giving Manager will also assist in the recruitment and management of parent volunteers, nurturing important relationships. The Annual Giving Manager will work with the Director of Development to set monetary and participation goals for Puma Fund and UPrep Together and will engage donors at all levels to achieve those goals through meaningful communication, stewardship, and events.

KEY AREAS OF LEADERSHIP:

  • Annual Fundraising - Creates, develops, and implements all aspects of the Puma Fund and UPrep Together fundraising efforts, including donor identification and cultivation, developing and executing fundraising communication and marketing plans, recruiting and supporting volunteers. This role also includes gathering and reporting out key statistics to various stakeholders in the school. Develops and leadsa comprehensive year-round donor-centric program creating a strong culture of philanthropy while meeting financial goals. Partners with Engagement and Alumni Manager to recognize donors through meaningful stewardship efforts and events.
  • Advancement Communications - In partnership with the Marketing and Communications team, leads the Development team’s efforts related to marketing and communications for the annual Puma Fund drive and UPrep Together event, including the development of content for emails, collateral materials, video, and social media.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

ANNUAL FUNDRAISING

  • Responsible for achieving monetary and participation goals for both the Puma Fund campaign and UPrep Together event.
  • Manages event planning for UPrep Together annual fundraiser, including contract negotiations with vendors, securing programmatic details, directing logistics, developing event website, and overseeing event volunteers.
  • Creates fundraising strategy and solicitation plan, timeline, communications plan, budget, and reporting for each of the two annual fundraising efforts
  • Recruits, trains, supports, and manages Puma Fund Class Agents and UPrep Together parent volunteers 
  • Provides analysis of annual fundraising progress reports to ensure a more informed and strategic planning effort
  • Manages budget related to Puma Fund and UPrep Together
  • Plans stewardship events and other recognition for Puma Fund donors at each level

DEVELOPMENT COMMUNICATIONS

  • Engages the entire UPrep community by crafting emails and other communications with the goal of encouraging joyful and aspirational participation for all development-related events, campaigns, and activities
  • Collaborates with the Development and Communications and Marketing teams on creating text and design for collaterals such as solicitation letters, postcards, Annual Impact Report, and the Development Brochure
  • Partners with the Communications and Marketing team for all-school email submissions, blog posts, and social media related to development efforts

ADDITIONAL:

  • Establishes and cultivates community relations by maintaining open dialogue with all of the school’s constituencies
  • Familiarity with marketing, communications, and external relations, and how they integrate effectively with a successful advancement effort 
  • Vigorously engages in their own professional advancement; is a life-long learner who enhances their skills, using state-of-the-art technologies to maintain high standards of performance to efficiently and effectively produce work  
  • Complies with all policies and regulations as put forth in the school’s documents
  • Since safety and security are everyone’s responsibility, take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, faculty, staff, equipment, materials and facilities
  • Seeks out opportunities to actively participate in the life of the school
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications


REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university required
  • A history of working collaboratively with key administrators and volunteers in leadership roles
  • 3-5 years fundraising and event planning experience in a non-profit setting preferred
  • 3 years fundraising experience preferred
  • Experience in private school environment preferred

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • A deep appreciation for the vision, mission, and values of the school 
  • Demonstrated self-starter; results-orientated with a strong work ethic; ability to multitask effectively and to prioritize competing demands
  • Ability to delegate and manage-up effectively
  • Ability to mentor and supervise volunteers
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to tell the story of the school to a variety of audiences
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Proven project management, organization, and multitasking skills
  • Ability to maintain highest level of confidentiality and professionalism 
  • Flexibility, maturity, and a sense of humor 
  • Ability to compile and analyze data
  • Ability to grow donor relationships, involvement, and commitment
  • Proficient in relevant development technology used in database management
  • Proficient at working in a Google or Microsoft Windows environment, using Office including Word, Excel, Outlook & PowerPoint
  • Ability to talk on the phone
  • Ability to sit and keyboard up to 8 hours per day 
  • Some local travel required

Compensation & Benefits:

Salary range is $75,000 - $89,000 based on experience. UPrep offers a comprehensive and generous benefits package intended to support and promote the health and well-being, work/life balance, and financial security of our faculty, staff, and their families.
