Description

THE ROLE

Under the direction and in conjunction with the Executive Director Planned Giving and Foundation Operations, the Director, Planned Giving - Swedish Foundation, initiates, implements, and manages planned giving programs to encourage and obtain philanthropic support through planned gifts targeted to support programs and services of the Swedish Foundation. The incumbent is responsible for assisting the Executive Director Planned Giving and Foundation Operations in strategic planning, managing, and evaluating the planned giving strategies and programs of the Swedish Foundation. The incumbent is also responsible for managing a planned giving donor portfolio. The Director, Planned Giving is responsible for day-to-day management of all planned giving programs and activities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assists the Executive Director Planned Giving and Foundation Operations in the operation, planning, analytics, and improvement of the planned giving program.

  • Working with the Executive Director Planned Giving and Foundation Operations, Executive Director, Major Gifts and Senior Director, Principal Gifts the incumbent is responsible for a planned giving portfolio of prospects including qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship. Establishes, maintains and strengthens relationships between current and potential planned giving donors and the Foundation.

  • Oversees the planned giving programs such as marketing, stewardship, surveys, events, presentations, education, CGA program, data and gift entry, gift acceptance, analytics and probate and trust administration. Monitors and reports on the foundations potential planned gifts and team and individual metrics. Collaborates with frontline fundraisers on strategy and tracking of planned gift opportunities.

  • In collaboration with Foundation leadership, help lead strategic planning processes for the planned giving programs and services.

  • Oversees the organization of new and existing planned gifts and the administration of matured planned gifts. Oversees the tracking and publishing of gift expectation of current and future planned gifts.

  • In area of responsibility, demonstrates knowledge and accountability for fiscal aspects of Foundation operations. Assist in the budget process. Develops and monitors operational budget and productivity measurements. Submits and justifies budget requests.

  • Manages Swedish Legacy Partners Program to promote and maintain donor satisfaction, increase membership and grow planned giving pipeline.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree with a preference for the following: Business Management, processes, finance, accounting, law; or equivalent educ/experience

  • Be, or willing to be, a participant in the certification program of the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP), Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), or Certified Specialist in Planned Giving (CSPG) (preferred)

  • Upon request: Driving may be necessary as part of this role. Caregivers are required to comply with all state laws and requirements for driving. Caregivers will be expected to provide proof of driver license and auto insurance upon request. See policy for additional information.

  • 4 years of successful fund-raising experience with experience in planned giving

  • 8-10 years fundraising experience.

  • 3-5 years of leadership experience (preferred)

  • 3-5 years exp. working in planned giving (preferred)

  • Knowledgeable of, and experienced, in the field of fund development, including planned giving fundraising with particular emphasis on principal and estate gift acquisition, principal gift strategies and planned gift vehicles, and complex gifts such as trusts, annuities, real estate, etc.

  • Ability and comfort working with ultra-high-net worth donors and their professional advisors (attorneys, CPAs, wealth managers, etc.)

  • Advanced interpersonal skills necessary in order to deal effectively and persuasively with a variety of influential internal and external contacts when eliciting cooperation and support for the foundations.

  • Program and office organizational skills and leadership.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Exhibits strong organizational and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and disciplined follow­ through to complete assigned tasks and duties within specified deadlines.

  • Independently discerns work priorities and is willing to work evenings/weekends as needed and travel to multiple locations, in the performance of job functions.

  • Understands database management and knowledgeable in Crescendo and other planned giving software capabilities (preferred).
