University of Utah is Hiring a Learning Communities Coordinator Near Salt Lake, UT

The Honors College at the University of Utah is seeking a program manager to assist with upper-division learning communities. Upper division learning communities focus on supporting students in completing their honors capstone/thesis through a variety of events and services, including peer support. The ideal candidate will bring energy, enthusiasm, and organizational skill to the organizing and provision of these events and services. S/he/they enjoy working in a team atmosphere, understand how to promote and support undergraduate research, creative, and scholarly work, and appreciate the opportunity to innovate and respond to changing needs and circumstances.
Responsibilities
  • Oversight and supervision of peer support program for thesis/degree completion. Capacity to be organized, maintain a schedule, work with student peer leaders, prioritize and delegate opportunities and tasks in ways that align with student aspirations and capabilities. Skill at recruiting and retaining student peer leaders to staff the degree support system.
  • Organize, promote/market, and implement events.
  • Create and maintain strong positive partnerships with units across campus.
  • Translate college-level objectives into tangible individual student outcomes.
  • Understand and communicate diverse departmental requirements, and provide excellent advice and direction tuned to students’ needs.
  • Maintain fluency with undergraduate research/standard practices across multiple disciplines.
  • Communicate and work effectively with faculty in and outside the Honors college.
  • Assist students in identifying thesis completion process steps, and connecting thesis to post-college aspirations and current coursework.
  • Assist with Honors academic advising during peak times.
Other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related area or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience). Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills required.
Previous experience in an advising, counseling or teaching environment is preferred.
This position has no responsibility for providing care to patients.
