Job Summary
The University of Utahs Kem C. Gardner Policy Institute is seeking a Housing, Construction and Real Estate Analyst to join the housing, construction, and real estate team. This individual will play a critical role in the daily operations and future growth of this practice area.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in economics, public policy, urban planning, data science, or a related field and 1-2 years of relevant experience (one year of graduate education is equivalent to two years of experience); proficiency in data manipulation and analysis using tools such as Microsoft Excel, ESRI ArcGIS, or similar; familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau or similar; interest in housing policy frameworks and desire to increase knowledge of the regulatory environment related to housing and real estate construction; excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey complex findings to various audiences; ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and contribute to the achievement of common goals; strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective working relationships; ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced research environment. Willingness to adapt to new tools, methodologies, and research challenges.

Policy analysis:
Support housing policy analysis at local, regional, and national levels.
Assist in the evaluation of existing policies on housing markets and affordability.
Data management and analysis:
Utilize advanced statistical methods and data visualization tools to analyze housing market data and real estate construction activity.
Manage, collect, and process raw data for updating the Utah Housing Affordability Dashboard and the Ivory-Boyer Construction Dashboard.
Develop new, publicly accessible dashboard data tools.
Research and writing:
Contribute to the research and writing of reports on housing markets and real estate construction.
Assist in preparing concise summaries and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications
Preferences
Masters degree in economics, public policy, urban planning, data science, or a related field; and experience with quantitative and qualitative analysis and data interpretation.
