Position Summary Information
Primary Purpose
Under the supervision of the Library Services & Operations Manager, the Library Operations Coordinator is responsible for the smooth day-to-day operation of the Sacramento Campus & Law Library, and supervising the Circulation Desk and student library assistants. This position combines customer service management and delivery, student employee supervision, training, and development, a basic understanding of library operations, and a commitment to meeting the evolving needs of a diverse campus population. The Library Operations Coordinator collaborates with library management, staff, and campus partners to ensure a positive study environment and seamless delivery of library services to all library users.
Essential Functions
  1. Ensures smooth daily operations as well as friendly and timely delivery of library services, spaces, and resources, for the Sacramento Campus & Law Library, which includes the circulation desk, circulation processes, user accounts, stacks support and ancillary projects.
  2. Supervises the circulation desk and the student employee team, including hiring, onboarding, training, determining workloads, delegating responsibilities, providing direction, coaching, mentoring, and evaluating job performance.
  3. Collaborates with law library management and Stockton library administration in the implementation and enforcement of library policies for the Pacific community and authorized guest library users, ensuring effective communication with library staff and campus partners.
  4. Serves as the library liaison for scheduling library tours, classes and meetings, and special events, such as homecoming, new student orientation, convocation, and graduation.
  5. Engages with user experience design practices by intentionally gathering input from the Pacific community, continually improving library services and policies, while promoting a culture of equity and inclusion.
  6. Liaises and collaborates with campus partners including but not limited to academic support services providers, student life, technology services, and campus police.
  7. Ensures proper working order of the library facilities, equipment and other resources; submits work orders as appropriate and works directly with Physical Plant as needed.
  8. Ensures the security of Library users by enforcing and monitoring security procedures and building access policies.
  9. Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Two (2) years of experience working in a university or collegiate service-oriented environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • One (1) year experience working in a library.
  • One (1) year experience managing a customer service oriented environment.
  • One 91) year experience hiring, training, and supervising staff, students, or volunteers.
  • Strong management, supervisory and organizational leadership skills.
  • Ability to train, manage, and motivate employees; to assign work and supervise performance.
  • Ability to coach employees in improving performance and establishing and attaining professional and organizational goals.
  • Working knowledge of online systems and software utilized in academic library setting.
  • Ability to analyze statistics and interpret data to make sound recommendations.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and customer service skills.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of library circulation operations and policies.
  • Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.
  • Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.

Work Environment/Work Week/Travel:
Work is primarily performed in both office and academic environments. Work schedule will be determined based on staffing needs and library usage, with an expected regular schedule of Monday through Friday, 10:30 am to 7 pm. Must be flexible to work during weeknights and occasional weekends.
Hiring Range $18.09 - $23.96 per hour. We consider factors such as, but not limited to, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's qualifications, internal equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
